About the Instructor

As an extensively trained and certified professional instructor, I serve as a mentor who guides your children through their work while also providing direction, support and encouragement. I create an at-home study plan in addition to monitoring classroom assignments, and I emphasize the importance of accurately completing each assignment within a designated time frame. This has helped many of my students increase self-confidence, thus becoming more self-reliant. Like all Kumon Instructors, I have a true passion for education and an earnest desire to help children succeed.

Mrs. Chelsie holds a Master's Degree in Business Administration, with a Bachelor's degree in Business Management. She is passionate about learning and continued her education after her Master's degree by enrolling in 30 credit hours of mathematics courses, as well as earning a Project Management Certificate. She has 19 years experience with Kumon.

As a former Kumon Student of Kumon of Tempe-South, Mrs. Chelsie knows firsthand the power of the Kumon Program. She enrolled in Kumon in elementary school and continued studying through Calculus in high school. Beyond enhancing her math abilities, Kumon helped her improve her confidence in school and allowed her to reach her potential of becoming an honor student, earning full-ride scholarships to college. Kumon taught her deductive skills necessary to become a self-learner, which transcended beyond the classroom. Because of her success in Kumon, she knew that with some hard work she could achieve any task she put her mind to. Today, she is the Instructor and owner of the center that helped mold her future.

Being able to become the Instructor for the same center that helped her as a child is very special for her. During high school and college, Mrs. Chelsie worked as an assistant for Kumon of Tempe-South for eight years. Helping children develop a love of learning and overall strong math skills, reading ability and study habits was a great source of joy for her. "Seeing the spark of excitement in their eyes when a student was able to figure out something by themselves, especially after finding it challenging initially, inspired my passion for working with children" she says. From college, Mrs. Chelsie knew she wanted to take over as the Instructor and help other children, just as it helped her, someday in the future. Nine years after her time as an assistant ended, and after almost a decade of corporate experience in accounting and business analysis, Mrs. Chelsie realized her passion and returned as the Instructor of Kumon of Tempe-South.
