About the Instructor

Hello, I am Raj Honnaya, Center Director. Welcome to our Kumon Math and Reading Center of Trumbull.

It is an honor for me to be surrounded daily by motivated and polite students and a caring and conscientious staff at my center. Our primary goal is to work as a team to nurture the academic development of each child and guide them to attain their maximum potential. As an extensively trained and certified professional instructor, I serve as a mentor who guides your children through their work while also providing direction, support, and encouragement. I create an at-home study plan in addition to monitoring classroom assignments, and I emphasize the importance of accurately completing each assignment within a designated time frame. This has helped many of my students increase self-confidence, thus becoming more self-reliant. Like all Kumon Instructors, I have a true passion for education and an earnest desire to help children succeed.

Biography and Background

Kumon Center Owner -Director

I was first introduced to Kumon when I enrolled my daughter over 14 years ago. Kumon has been a part of our family ever since. I have seen my daughter grow with this program and fell in love with it and opened my first center in 2010. She is a sophomore at NYU-STERN studying Finance.

I made the choice to move away from a successful career in IT operations and security to opening my first Kumon Center about eight years ago in Trumbull, CT. In addition to a masters degree in Quantum Physics and Electronics, and a bachelors degree in Education, I have over 15 years of experience working with children. I am very active in our community and encourage children to participate in "out of the box thinking" enrichment activities. I am very passionate about the Kumon Program and believe that every child has a unique ability. My goal is to work with you to help your child attain his or her maximum potential.

I have been extensively involved in the community, as a community leader at Fairchild Wheeler School Bridgeport, CT, involved in various capacities at Parent Teacher Associations. We are proud sponsors of the little league teams & Race4kids Chase Fun Run that honors the CMAK Chase Michael Anthony Kowalski Sandy Hook Memorial Foundation. I have served as a judge at Odyssey of the Minds competitions and we are supporting a team from the Town of Trumbull as they head to Worlds.

I look forward to meeting you and creating an individualized study plan for your children.

Training and Certification

As a Kumon Instructor, I believe that it's very important that a child learns, and learns at his pace and abilities. Positive feedback and constant reinforcement and encouragement helps a child see his or her potential.
