About the Instructor

Introduction

If a young child or teenager has experienced difficulties in learning for some reason or circumstances...my Kumon Center is the place for this individual. I am an instructor that cares and will work with the students carefully...to uncover the emotional turmoil - they may have experienced in their early life of learning.

I will not make the student feel bad - under any circumstances. My purpose is to enhance self-learning ability, while also assisting my students to gain self-confidence and discover their true and positive self-esteem. First, we strive to understand "why" learning is a problem with one or several subjects, before we begin to correct the issue. The students will do the work, and my team will provide the knowledge and guidance using the Kumon Method.

Our actions at the Kumon Learning Center speak louder than our words. I spent over 20 years as an Officer in the U.S. Marine Corps. My role as an Kumon Instructor is even more meaningful to me. Values of hard work and discipline are found in doing daily practice of the Kumon Method. My center provides on-going learning to variety of students ranging from ages 2 to 60 plus. We are a stress free, nurturing school that provides results in learning and newfound self-esteem.

Like all Kumon Instructors, I have a true passion for education and an earnest desire to help children succeed. We look forward to sharing our passion of learning...intentionally with a real purpose to excel in school and life.

Leave your fears behind and join our Kumon family on our mission to grow and learn!

Biography and Background

Grand Opening

Greetings my name is Edward Lofland, I spent more than two decades in the United States Marine Corps serving my country. While stationed in Okinawa, Japan, I was introduced to Kumon as a parent. My children enrolled at an on-base Kumon Center and the impact on their self-confidence was clear from the start. When my family was first stationed in Virginia, I immediately enrolled my kids at the Kumon of Virginia Beach-Kempsville. Before I retired from the Marine Corps while stationed at my last duty in Okinawa, I was presented with the opportunity to continue the development of my children and join the Kumon Family. In summary, I was excited to open my own Kumon of Virginia Beach-Hilltop. My dream is to work to help children in my community advance by using the Kumon Method and see them enjoy the same life-long benefits my own kids experience.
