About the Center

Introduction

Welcome to our Kumon Math and Reading Center of Aurora, located in the Target shopping center, between Nails & Co and Carpet Mart. Our Kumon Center serves the local communities, although we welcome students from anywhere within the state and even cater to out of state students at our center.

This center is very personalized by our instructor, Ms. Yumiko. She goes through each student's work individually and tailors their work to their needs. She has been a Kumon instructor for over 20 years. We have a yearly awards ceremony where we celebrate our students' successes and progress, and we love to see how they grow and learn over time!

For more than 60 years, Kumon’s after-school academic enrichment program has helped children achieve success worldwide. We strive to instill in children the desire to achieve and the motivation to learn on their own. Whether your child is seeking enrichment, needs help catching up or is just beginning his or her academic career, Kumon is designed to help him or her develop a love of learning.

Students advance through the program at their own pace. Our emphasis on individualized learning helps your child become focused, motivated and self-reliant. We monitor each child’s progress to ensure comprehension before moving on to a new concept. With a strong academic foundation, critical thinking and problem solving abilities, your child has the potential to achieve whatever he or she desires.

The Kumon Math Program is a comprehensive curriculum that develops the necessary skills to help children progress from basic counting through calculus. For more information about the Kumon Math Program, click here.

The Kumon Reading Program begins with basic phonics and progresses all the way through advanced reading comprehension. For more information about the Kumon Reading Program, click here.

Safety precautions are in place at the center:

  • Strict student scheduling to maintain capacity.
  • Tables are placed six feet apart.
  • Temperature checks upon entry for all students and staff.
  • Face masks are required for all students and staff, NO EXCEPTIONS.
  • Plexi-glass dividers are placed at teachers' tables and at the early learners table.
  • Student tables and stools are sanitized between uses.
Students are expected to come and spend one half-hour per subject. They are also expected to do all homework assigned on the days they do not attend between classes. We expect parents to grade all math homework and for any corrections to be done the same day. Reading homework will be graded at the center by our teachers.

Students must start at their assigned starting point determined by their placement testing. This is non-negotiable. Students may do several repetitions on worksheets. This is best avoided by doing worksheets with the least mistakes, in the fastest time, so focus and work hard! All students do repetitions in Kumon, as it is a part of working on your mental skills.

Other policies will be covered at Orientation and during Enrollment.
