About the Center

Welcome to the Kumon Math and Reading Center of Burien-Downtown!

We are located in the Fred Meyer shopping plaza, near T-Mobile and Mawadda Cafe.

For more than 60 years, Kumon’s after-school academic enrichment program has helped children achieve success worldwide. We strive to instill in children the desire to achieve and the motivation to learn on their own. Whether your child is seeking enrichment, needs help catching up or is just beginning his or her academic career, Kumon is designed to help him or her develop a love of learning.

Students advance through the program at their own pace. Our emphasis on individualized learning helps your child become focused, motivated and self-reliant. We monitor each child’s progress to ensure comprehension before moving on to a new concept. With a strong academic foundation, critical thinking and problem solving abilities, your child has the potential to achieve whatever he or she desires.

The Kumon Math Program is a comprehensive curriculum that develops the necessary skills to help children progress from counting through calculus. For more information about the Kumon Math Program, click here.

One-Time Registration Fee: $80 per student

One-Time Materials Fee: $30 per student

Monthly Tuition: $170 per subject

CENTER POLICIES

Center Business Hours Monday - Friday 11:00 A.M. - 7:00 P.M

Class Days/Hours Monday & Thursday 3:00 P.M. - 7 P.M. | Tuesday & Friday 2:30 P.M. - 5:30 P.M.

Communication
*We rely on email for communication and require a valid email address for each family.

*It is the responsibility of the parent to check their email for communication from Kumon.



Scheduling
*Students are expected to attend their Kumon session at the scheduled time.

*Schedules can be updated with advance notice (subject to availability)

*If in need of a one-time schedule change, please email the center one day in advance to review availability.



Center Calendar
*Kumon is open year round, maintaining the same hours throughout the summer.

*Kumon is closed for national holidays (Presidents day, Memorial day, Thanksgiving, etc.)

*Kumon is closed for winter/spring breaks.

*Closures will be announced via email and signs will be posted at the center.

*Students will receive daily assignments to do at home on the last class day prior to breaks.



Attendance
*Students attend two class sessions per week and receive worksheet packets for each non-class day to do at home.

*There are no make up sessions. If a student arrives 10 minutes after the scheduled start time, we may ask you to pick up your work for the day.

*If your child is sick, we ask that they do not attend class. You may pick up their classwork and homework or we can adjust their work schedule and mark them as absent.

*Our bathroom is reserved for students and staff only. Students must be able to use the bathroom by themselves.



Workload
*Students' workload (number of worksheet pages students receive each day) will be adjusted by the Center Specialist based on student progress and level of difficulty.

*If your student encounters challenges with their current workload or is willing to take on more, please inform the instructor.

*Requests to change the workload are subject to approval of the Center Specialist.



Incomplete work
*It is essential for students to complete daily homework assignments to maintain steady progress. If students are unable to complete homework, please have them return incomplete assignments to class and notify staff.
