About Your Instructor
Cathy Hu
My name is Cathy Hu, and I’m proud to serve as the owner and head instructor of this center. I was honored to be hand-selected by the original founder of Kumon of Danville—who led the center for over 30 years—to carry forward her legacy of helping children grow into confident, independent learners.
I’ve called the Bay Area home since I was three years old. After earning my bachelor’s degree in Materials Science & Engineering from UC Berkeley, I spent almost a decade working in the fast-paced Silicon Valley tech industry. But it wasn’t until I became a mother that I discovered my true passion: supporting children in building strong academic skills and lifelong study habits. I believe so deeply in the Kumon Method that I enrolled my daughter when she was just three years old. Now five, she continues to thrive—and I see firsthand, as both a parent and educator, the transformative impact of Kumon.
As head instructor, I love the variety each day brings: meeting and partnering with parents, mentoring our high school assistants (often in their very first jobs), and most importantly, working directly with students of all ages. Whether it’s a preschooler learning to count or a teenager mastering algebra, I’m here to guide each child on their unique journey toward independence, discipline, and confidence.
I’m deeply committed to continuing the tradition of excellence that’s made this center a trusted part of the Danville community. I look forward to welcoming you and supporting your child’s growth every step of the way.
