About the Center

Introduction

Welcome to our Kumon Math and Reading Center of Edmond - North.

For more than 60 years, Kumon’s after-school academic enrichment program has helped children achieve success worldwide. We strive to instill in children the desire to achieve and the motivation to learn on their own. Whether your child is seeking enrichment, needs help catching up or is just beginning his or her academic career, Kumon is designed to help him or her develop a love of learning.

Students advance through the program at their own pace. Our emphasis on individualized learning helps your child become focused, motivated and self-reliant. We monitor each child’s progress to ensure comprehension before moving on to a new concept. With a strong academic foundation, critical thinking and problem solving abilities, your child has the potential to achieve whatever he or she desires.

The Kumon Math Program is a comprehensive curriculum that develops the necessary skills to help children progress from counting through calculus. For more information about the Kumon Math Program, click here.

The Kumon Reading Program begins with basic phonics and progresses all the way through advanced reading comprehension. For more information about the Kumon Reading Program, click here.

Policies

When are classes held?

In-person classes are held at the Kumon Math and Reading Center of Edmond - North Center on Mondays and Thursdays from 3:30 - 7:00 P.M.

  • Students typically attend class twice a week for 30-minutes per subject. However, arrangements can be made for once a week visits.  (Prices remain the same for once or twice a week class visits.)
  • Homework is given to students on Mondays for the entire week.  This allows a child who cannot be in attendance for Thursday’s class to simply complete his work at home for that particular day.
  • Completed work is reviewed, analyzed, and recorded by the instructor and staff.
  • Kumon Center visits are scheduled by appointment.  A student's standing appointment remains the same year round or until a change is needed.

What commitments are required?

Parents and students must be equally committed to Kumon!  As a Kumon parent you will be expected to do the following:

  • Keep your child and yourself committed to a minimum of one year of Kumon study.  This will allow ample time for your child to reach international grade level. Remember, Kumon is designed to be a long-term program.
  • Create a quiet study place for daily homework assignments.
  • Grade your child’s homework, re-check corrections, and summarize their work daily.
  • Focus on your child’s long-term academic goals, their independent learning, and their advancement beyond  international grade level.
  • Be your student’s cheerleader.  It is not always easy, but it is always worth it!
