About the Center

Introduction

Welcome to Kumon Math and Reading Center of Fort Worth - North. We are located at 4324 Heritage Trace Blvd, Suite 809 directly behind Martha's Restaurant. My name is Greg Derrick and I have been a Kumon Instructor for 14 years. I began my journey with Kumon after watching my own children develop skills and work ethic that has impacted their lives through the years by doing Kumon.

For more than 60 years, Kumon’s after-school academic enrichment program has helped children achieve success worldwide. We strive to instill in children the desire to achieve and the motivation to learn on their own. Whether your child is seeking enrichment, needs help catching up or is just beginning his or her academic career, Kumon is designed to help him or her develop a love of learning.

Students advance through the program at their own pace. Our emphasis on individualized learning helps your child become focused, motivated and self-reliant. We monitor each child’s progress to ensure mastery level comprehension before moving on to a new concept. With a strong academic foundation, critical thinking and problem-solving abilities, your child has the potential to achieve whatever he or she desires. Our center currently has over 110 students studying above international grade level. Many of these students started in the program because of struggles in school and are now learning ahead of grade level.

The Kumon Math Program is a comprehensive curriculum that develops the necessary skills to help children progress from counting through calculus. To learn more information about the Kumon Math Program, click here

Class Expectations

  1. We would love to have your student attend Kumon class at least once per week, but it is recommended to attend twice per week. Excessive absences and missing assignments will cause students to fall behind and lose motivation. Kumon Connect allows students to progress without attending the center as frequently.

  2. Kumon of Ft. Worth uses a classroom approach for instruction. Student independence and self-learning are core principles of the Kumon Method which involves individualized study, not one-on-one tutoring.

  3. The Instructor circulates through the classroom to guide and assist students. However, our goal is to help without helping – hints and examples, not answers. Students are also asked to try and figure out the problem on their own using provided examples. This stimulates self-learning.

  4. Parents are expected to assist with grading homework at home and return completed scorecards to the center. This enables students to progress optimally by correcting errors immediately.

  5. During the School year, Kumon of Ft. Worth-North follows Keller ISD school calendar for all holidays.

  6. We ask that all students commit to a minimum stay of six months.
