About the Center

Introduction

Welcome to our Kumon Math and Reading Center of Gainesville. Our center is located at 7555 Somerset Crossing Dr., Gainesville, VA 20155. We are close to BP gas station and Bonefish grill.

For more than 60 years, Kumon’s after-school academic enrichment program has helped children achieve success worldwide. We strive to instill in children the desire to achieve and the motivation to learn on their own. Whether your child is seeking enrichment, needs help catching up or is just beginning his or her academic career, Kumon is designed to help him or her develop a love of learning.

Students advance through the program at their own pace. Our emphasis on individualized learning helps your child become focused, motivated and self-reliant. We monitor each child’s progress to ensure comprehension before moving on to a new concept. With a strong academic foundation, critical thinking and problem solving abilities, your child has the potential to achieve whatever he or she desires.

The Kumon Math Program is a comprehensive curriculum that develops the necessary skills to help children progress from counting through calculus. Click for more information about the Kumon Math Program.

The Kumon Reading Program begins with basic phonics and progresses all the way through advanced reading comprehension. Click for more information about the Kumon Reading Program.

Our mission at Kumon Math and Reading Center of Gainesville is to instill independence while filling in learning gaps and boosting confidence. We strongly believe that in many young students, confidence plays a major role in approaching new material and that confidence can be built one step at a time, by successfully completing assigned work and realization of achievement. We want our students to experience the difference from "I am not sure" to "I can do it!". Our entire team consist of skilled individuals who look forward to working with students in a friendly manner and especially make them comfortable enough to ask questions.

Policies

Center Calendar:

Although Kumon is a year-round program; we observe some national holidays along with spring, summer, and winter breaks. Specific dates are announced in advance on our web page and sent directly to parents. Students are provided with homework in advance during most of these holidays. Weather-related closures are decided on class days by noon and parents are informed via email, text message, updated center web page, and social media platforms.

Class attendance:

Kumon is an individualized program and in-class observation is a critical part of lesson planning for each student. We aim for introducing new concepts in class to ensure the understanding and application of the Kumon Method. We want to provide guidance and support to our students and help them achieve their Kumon goals. If communicated in advance, we can provide guidance or temporary adjustments in given work to help student continue the learning without interruption.

Vacation:

Homework can be arranged for a short or long vacation trips. We recommend that vacations can be communicated as early as possible to ensure that the student is introduced to new concept in class, allowing him/her to practice smoothly during vacation.

Absence policy:

Student may be absent from Kumon for no more than one continuous month without jeopardizing study continuation and Kumon points. When a student resumes after more than a month of absence, he/she has to be treated as a "new student" where a placement test is re-administered and registration fee may be applicable. Termination: We require 30-day written notice to be given BEFORE 1st of the month to ensure that tuition payment is placed on "hold" or "stopped".
