About Your Instructor
RAYMOND ALLENDE
I began working for Kumon once I graduated from Penn State University in 2011. I graduated with a degree in Human Development and Families Studies while minoring in Psychology. I always knew that I wanted to work with young children but I didn't know to what capacity. During my final semester in college, I held an internship with the Children's Aid Society and met a Kumon instructor who asked me to join her team once I left university. Initially, I worked part time at a center in Manhattan just grading and occasionally working with students. I eventually became the assistant instructor at that location and held that role for 2 years. This is where my love for working with students grew as I got to witness first hand the positive impact our program could have on students and families.
In 2013, I became a Public Relations coordinator. I handled Kumon North America's media interaction in the west coast media markets including California, Arizona, Seattle and Hawaii. It was my chance to contribute to the publics understanding of our program and how impactful the benefits could be. Eventually, I became an area development manager or Field Consultant for KNA. I moved to California to help maintain and improve the quality of over 20 Kumon centers for our Los Angeles Branch from 2014 to 2019.
After 5 years in San Diego, I decided it was time for me to get back to what I was truly passionate about and returned to the classroom, leaving California to work as the instructor for the Manhattan Branch for a second stint. Now my center is in Harlem and I am looking forward to helping students and families in the East Harlem community.
