About Your Instructor
Sherilynn Mamac
My name is Sherilynn Mamac (Ms. Sheri or Mrs. Mamac) and I am a born and raised Kona girl. I attended Konawaena Elementary and Middle School, and am a proud graduate of Konawaena High School. After graduating from high school, I attended the University of Hawaii at Manoa where I graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. I immediately started my teaching career back at home at my elementary school, Konawaena Elementary. I taught special education preschool for one year, second grade for two years, and third grade for seven years.
I am married to my husband Randal and we have two children. Our son Randal Jr., or RJ, is 7 and our daughter Shaylee is 3. We are a very busy family who enjoys going to the beach and going fishing. We love playing sports, especially soccer. On typical weekends (Pre-COVID), our schedule is packed with sporting events for our son RJ and hopefully soon for our daughter, Shaylee. Shaylee and I love to dance hula and go shopping.
It has always been my dream and goal to return to my community and work within my community to help shape the future of Kona. That is one of the main reasons I went into teaching. The other being that I love working with children. Kumon was a big part of why I also went into teaching. I worked as an assistant at Kona’s two Kumon Centers (there were 2 at the time - one at Kealakehe and the other at Konawaena) while in high school. While attending college, I also worked at another Kumon Center in Kaimuki. During breaks when I would return to Kona, I would go back and work at those two centers until I had to return to college. I also continued to work while I was working as a teacher up until I had my son, RJ.
I am beyond happy and excited to be serving you as your Kumon Instructor! I am looking forward to meeting you and working to support your child to excel in all that they strive for!
