About Your Instructor
RICHARD WENDELKEN
My role as a Kumon Instructor is to bring out the potential in each child. As an extensively trained and certified professional instructor, I serve as a mentor who guides your children through their work. Prior to owning a Kumon Center, I was an engineer for 30 years, rising to Director of Engineering at Motorola and later at General Dynamics. I always knew I was a good teacher, but the pay wasn't enough to support a family back then—now that I'm semi-retired, I've been able to follow my passion by running a Kumon Center for the last 12 years. Students tell me I'm one of the nicest people they've met. One note from a sister and brother who were moving out of Florida said, "Thank you so much for helping and guiding us. You have always been patient and understanding with us. You are one of the kindest people I know." And that means the world to me. I have a true passion for education and an earnest desire to help children succeed, mentoring them all the way through to college entrance. My goal is to help students increase self-confidence and become more self-reliant.
