About Your Instructor
HUMA ISHAQUI
Dear Kumon Families,
Hello! My name is Huma Ishaqui. I am the instructor at the Kumon Math and Reading Center of Marietta –South Sandy Plains. I would like to give you a brief glimpse into my background and experience. My love for teaching developed through my first position as a Presidential Scholar with the Chemistry Department at Georgia State University. Later on, through the reference of my research professor at GA State University, I landed my first teaching role at one of the top Private Independent Schools in the Southeast region of USA, The Westminster Schools, Atlanta, GA. I taught Chemistry for the high school at Westminster for over 13 years. My students, their parents and my superiors were very impressed by my passion towards teaching as well as the innovative styles I incorporated during the class sessions. Also, I was known throughout the Westminster faculty for the energy I brought to the Chemistry department and for providing an efficient learning environment. In my experience, the most successful classes are those in which you have incorporated all three types of learners into your teaching, the kinesthetic, the visual, and the auditory. I carefully organized my notes and lectures to meet the needs of all three learning styles.
As for family, I am a mother of three children-two boys and a girl and my husband owns a company in the field of Technology Management. My three children attend The Westminster Schools in Atlanta, the older one is now attending GA Tech completing his Masters in Artificial Intelligence and younger one is a 10rd grader at Westminster. My beautiful daughter is 11 years old and is a 5th grader at Westminster. As I conducted my research, I stumbled upon Kumon and I absolutely fell in love with its philosophy; its long term vision and the customizable process. I am absolutely thrilled by the prospect of working with children again and being able to make a real difference in their life!
It is such a pleasure to watch our children learn new skills. I am fully committed to the growth of Kumon Math and Reading Center of Marietta-South Sandy Plains and to seeing the center become a focus of the Marietta community. Every child has ability and a high potential to learn. Some need to be nudged a little bit to take responsibility for their education and to become independent learners. It is our responsibility as educators and parents to provide them with the necessary tools for success, such as a suitable environment, constant encouragement, sound study skills, and a firm foundation in the fundamentals. Kumon’s ideology and methodology help students do just that. Therefore, I spent a full year in the rigorous Kumon training program and have become a Certified Kumon Instructor and I look forward to helping each child achieve their full potential.
I look forward to working with each of you as we watch the children succeed in school as well as in life, and become role models for the future generations. Ms Huma 404-510-6229
