CLASS POLICIES & GUIDELINES
All students are scheduled for a specific time slot per subject twice a week. Parents/guardians must not bring the student outside of his/her scheduled time slot, unless this has been specifically cleared by the Instructor. The student must come to the Center twice a week, as per schedule, to derive full benefits of the Kumon program. Assistance will be given to each student. Each student shall be given personal attention and his/her classwork shall be evaluated by the Center staff for the key factors in determining a student’s proficiency and progress, such as time, accuracy, work skills, procedural steps and correctional ability. A Parent/Guardian must log student(s) in and out of the log book at the front desk. Parents/guardians shall be fully responsible for dropping off and picking up a student to/from the Center. After a student is dropped-off, the parent/guardian must be aware of the time for pick-up. Parents/guardians must not leave a student in the Center waiting at the end of the study session. The Center does not have the space for unoccupied students and their presence may cause distraction/disruption to other students. Parents/guardians are advised that each student’s study session may vary in length according to the time it takes the student to complete his/her assigned classwork. The Kumon center strives to provide a distraction-free environment for our students and requests that parents/guardians/family members in the Waiting Area refrain from any noisy activities, such as use of cell phones etc., which may cause distractions. Food or drinks are not permitted inside the Center. Your co-operation is greatly appreciated.
CENTER CALENDAR
(Annual Calendar available at the front desk) The Center is open year round and observes most of the same holidays as the Flagler County Schools. In the event of emergencies or severe weather conditions, the center will follow the Flagler County Schools District mandates. For these special/emergency closures, students will be exempt from their regular homework.
STUDENT VACATIONS AND ABSENCES
Kumon strongly recommends that students take homework on vacation with them so as not to slow their progress and to ensure continuity. If necessary, the Center may reduce the number of worksheets during vacations & holidays. Parents/guardians must inform the Center of vacation dates as early as possible. Planner forms are available at the front desk. If a child is going to be absent for any reason, please let the Instructor know as soon as possible. Text message via cell phone is the best way to reach Ms. Elizabeth. Parents/guardians should not bring a student to the Center if he/she is ill. For absences due to illness, please call the Center and arrange to pick up the missed class work or homework. As a parent/guardian, please use your discretion as to whether your child is well enough to complete his/her homework and keep the Center informed.
