About the Center

Introduction

Welcome to Kumon Math and Reading Center of Rancho Cordova.

For more than 60 years, Kumon’s after-school academic enrichment program has helped children achieve success worldwide. We strive to instill in children the desire to achieve and the motivation to learn on their own. Whether your child is seeking enrichment, needs help catching up or is just beginning his or her academic career, Kumon is designed to help him or her develop a love of learning.

Students advance through the program at their own pace. Our emphasis on individualized learning helps your child become focused, motivated and self-reliant. We monitor each child’s progress to ensure comprehension before moving on to a new concept. With a strong academic foundation, critical thinking and problem solving abilities, your child has the potential to achieve whatever he or she desires.

The Kumon Math Program is a comprehensive curriculum that develops the necessary skills to help children progress from counting through calculus. For more information about the Kumon Math Program, click here.

The Kumon Reading Program begins with basic phonics and progresses all the way through advanced reading comprehension. For more information about the Kumon Reading Program, click here.

TUITION

Tuition is due by the 1st of each month, as payment in advance for the upcoming month. For EFT, accounts are automatically charged on the 20th of each month. There is a $10 penalty fee for insufficient funds as well as for late payments. You may hold or stop EFT charges by notifying us by the 15th of the current month to be effected for the following month.

ABSENCES
If a student is unable to attend a class session, please inform the Instructor before that class day, and make arrangements to obtain the student’s daily assignments. When picking up a student’s work due to an absence, please bring in previously provided homework assignments.

If a student needs work beyond the next class (e.g., for vacation), please give the Center at least one day’s notice so that the Instructor may prepare accordingly.

A student who, for whatever reason, does not pay tuition or take any Kumon materials in a given month for a particular subject is considered absent for that month for that subject. Students will be allowed a period of absence not to exceed one month per calendar year per subject. Students reported as absent for more than one month in a given calendar year in a subject will be considered un-enrolled for that subject. Students whose status is un-enrolled in both subjects will be assessed a registration fee when re-enrolling. This rule also applies to students who transfer from another Kumon Center.

ATTENDANCE and DAILY STUDY
Class times are Tuesdays and Fridays, from 2:30 and 6:30 p.m.

Students should study on a daily basis, as opposed to all at once after skipping days. Daily practice is central to the Kumon Method.

Return completed homework as well as incomplete worksheets, so that the Instructor may evaluate and plan accordingly.

Homework must be timed, completed and graded. Parents are strongly encouraged to home grade students’ work, as daily and timely feedback gives way to quicker and smoother progress through the Program.

LIABILITY
Center staff members are not able to supervise waiting children and do not provide child care services.

Parents/Guardians are responsible for ensuring that their child stays on the premises.

Parents/Guardians of Primary Instruction Kumon students are required to remain at the Center while their child is in class.

Parent/Guardian shall be liable for any damages and injuries caused by their child to other persons and agrees to hold harmless, defend and indemnify Kumon North America, Inc. and its Instructors. The Instructor is not liable for any Kumon student outside the Center facility before or after the student leaves the Center.

WAITING AREA
Parents are asked to stay in the waiting area and wait quietly. A quiet working environment is conducive to proper worksheet study.

Parent Conferences are available by appointment, and not during class hours.
