About Your Instructor
PHYLMARLENE ETRATA
Ms. Aina has been a Kumon Instructor since 1999. She holds a B.S. in Elementary Education and received a M.Ed. in Professional Development while teaching and raising 5 children. She taught for 13 years in the public school system and upon moving to California from Hawaii, she fulfilled her dream of owning her own school of sorts....a Kumon Center!
Her experience with Kumon dates back to when her children participated in the Kumon Center near her home in Laupahoehoe, Hawaii. Through that first experience, she saw from a parent's perspective the value of Kumon. After leaving Hawaii for California, she felt a need to re-enroll her youngest daughter back in to Kumon. Through her inquiry, she found not only a Kumon Center nearby but that it was looking for a new instructor. Twenty one years later she has been privileged to be part of a program that positively impacts and influences children for the better. She believes in the Kumon process and loves the joy that comes to each student as they continue to walk this path of self-realization. Each child's potential is endless through Kumon study!
