About Your Instructor
POONAM SAXENA
Dr. Saxena has worked in the academic field for 30 years. With a Ph.D. degree, she has served various roles as a scientist, instructor, and mentor at renowned institutions like Case Western Reserve University, the University of Chicago, and Argonne National Laboratory. She has authored many professional journal papers and articles and has received prestigious awards. Though she has mentored and taught undergrads at the universities and community college, it is her immense passion towards children that she has always been connected with children's education. As an active member of the National Association for the Education of Young children (NAEYC), she believes that education is the building block for a better society.
Her strong interest and belief in Kumon developed when she enrolled her daughter (now an aerospace engineer having worked at NASA and Boeing) in the program and witnessed tremendous improvements in her concentration and self-confidence, which helped her to excel not only in math and reading but as an overall student. She believes that the greatest gift we can give to our children is confidence. Nothing gives a child more confidence in school than a solid command of the basics: the fundamental building blocks of math and reading. With this goal and vision, she was honored to get the opportunity to take over the Schaumburg Golf Center in 2006. There was no looking back after.
Dr. Saxena passionately believes that all students can benefit from the Kumon program. She is a veteran Kumon Instructor who specializes in advanced math and reading instruction and program completers.
