Introduction

Welcome to our Kumon Math and Reading Center. For more than 60 years, Kumon’s after-school academic enrichment program has helped children achieve success worldwide. We strive to instill in children the desire to achieve and the motivation to learn on their own. Whether your child is seeking enrichment, needs help catching up or is just beginning his or her academic career, Kumon is designed to help him or her develop a love of learning.

Students advance through the program at their own pace. Our emphasis on individualized learning helps your child become focused, motivated and self-reliant. We monitor each child’s progress to ensure comprehension before moving on to a new concept. With a strong academic foundation, critical thinking and problem solving abilities, your child has the potential to achieve whatever he or she desires.

Job Opportunities

Center Assistant

  • Center Assistants support the instructors in a variety of instructional and center management tasks. Job responsibilities are assigned by the instructors based upon the needs of each center. This position is part-time and will require you to work evenings (Mondays & Thursdays 1PM-8PM)  and part time over the weekend.

    Early Learner/Primary Instruction:

    • Working efficiently and effectively with one or two younger or new Kumon students at a time to provide instruction through utilization of the Kumon Method and worksheets.
    • Ensure proper study habits and work skills are being developed and train the students in center routine.
    • Individualizing strategies for student development based on student goals and communication with Instructor.
    • On-going assessment of student skills development
    • Work closely with Instructor to develop and understand lesson plan and goals for each student in order to properly administer instruction individually.

    Grading:

    • Grading of student classwork, homework, and corrections and organizing of Student worksheets
    • Ensuring Student classwork is completed and corrected to 100%
    • Assessing oral reading ability with reading students and providing necessary feedback
    • Provide assistance/guidance to students, as needed, adhering to Kumon Method standards and center procedures
    • Provide Instructor with written or verbal feedback, as needed, based on student observations and/or student performance on worksheets
    • Work with other grading assistants to create a balanced workload to ensure grading is completed before the end of class

    FrontDesk:

    • Answer incoming phone calls
    • Communicating with students and parents during class-time, addressing student and parental needs, professionally, quickly, and quietly
    • Assist with book check in/out
    • Booking Center Appointments
    • Assisting with the enrollment process

    General Responsibilities:

    • Relay messages and Parental concerns to the Instructor in a timely manner
    • Prepare student files
    • Developing own knowledge of Kumon method and worksheets
    • Assisting with marketing initiatives and retention events (ex: student awards, goal-setting parties)
    • Support Customer Service issues as they arise

    Qualifications:

    • Strong verbal communication skills, intermediate written communication skills preferred
    • Proficient math skills a plus
    • Proficient in basic computer usage
    • Customer service minded individual

Grading Assistant

  • A Kumon Grading Assistant is responsible for accurately and efficiently grading student worksheets, tracking progress, and providing support to the Kumon Instructor. The role requires attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and a passion for helping students achieve their academic goals. This part-time position is ideal for individuals who are enthusiastic about education and want to contribute to appositive learning environment

    Job Responsibilities:

    Accurately grade student worksheets in mathematics and reading according to the Kumon grading guidelines.

    Record student progress and maintain up-to-date records, ensuring data is accurate and easily accessible for the Kumon Instructor.

    Requirements:

    Must be able to work on Monday’s & Thursday’s from 3:00 PM – 7:00 PM, flexible hours as needed over the weekend(can work remotely)

    Strong Math & Reading skills.

    Must be able to multitask.

    Quick learner and ability to adapt tofast and changing environment.

    Must like working with children.

    Patient, responsible and dependable.

    Training will be provided. 

    Job Type: Part-time

    Pay: $12.00 - $15.00 per hour

    Expected hours: 11 per week

Early Learning Assistant

  • Job Responsibilities:

    • Work with preschool and elementary school children in developing reading and math skills using Kumon Method.
    • Observe students and administer worksheets according to the Kumon Method.
    • Prepare student’s work and organize student’s files.
    • Grade student’s classwork and homework.
    • Providing feedback to students and communicating student progress to Instructor.
    • Individualizing strategies for student development based on student goals and communication with Instructor.

    Basic Qualifications:

    • Strong proficiency in high school Math and/or English.
    • Available to work evenings and perform various tasks within the Center as assigned.
    • Maintain regular and consistent attendance and punctuality.
    • Ability to work as part of a team and build relationships with coworkers and customers.
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

    Please note that this position requires a background check and may require additional certifications or training.

    Job Type: Part-time

    Pay: $12.00 - $17.00 per hour based on experience

    Expected hours: Mondays & Thursdays 3PM-7PM

Teaching assistant

  • A Kumon teaching Assistant is responsible for accurately and efficiently grading student worksheets, tracking progress, and providing support to the Kumon Instructor. The role requires attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and a passion for helping students achieve their academic goals. This part-time position is ideal for individuals who are enthusiastic about education and want to contribute to a positive learning environment.

    Responsibilities:

    Accurately grade student worksheets in mathematics and reading according to the Kumon grading guidelines.

    Record student progress and maintain up-to-date records, ensuring data is accurate and easily accessible for the Kumon Instructor.

    Prepare and organize student materials, including worksheets, progress reports, and portfolios, ensuring they are ready for use during class sessions.

    Assist the Kumon Instructor in monitoring the classroom, maintaining a quiet and orderly learning environment for students.

    Provide guidance and support to students when necessary, encouraging them to work independently and develop problem-solving skills.

    Communicate with the Kumon Instructor regarding student progress, concerns, or any potential issues that may arise.

    Participate in staff meetings and training sessions to continually improve your knowledge of the Kumon program and grading techniques.

    Assist with other administrative tasks, as needed, such as answering phone calls, responding to parent inquiries, and maintaining the center's cleanliness.

    Qualifications:

    High school diploma or equivalent; college students or recent graduates with strong academic backgrounds are preferred.

    Proficient in mathematics and reading, with a solid understanding of the subject matter covered in the Kumon curriculum.

    Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.

    Strong interpersonal and communications kills, with the ability to work effectively with students, parents, and staff members.

    A passion for education and a genuine interest in helping students succeed academically.

    Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.

    Prior experience in tutoring or education is a plus, but not required.

    Note: All candidates must be able to pass a basic mathematics and reading proficiency test as part of the hiring process.
