My name is Alpa Banker and I’m the center director for Kumon of Sunnyvale-Lakewood!

As a Kumon instructor, my goal is to help all students succeed and get ahead in school. We work with students of all abilities and ages. Some students come to Kumon to catch up, others come looking for an extra challenge and to get ahead in school.

Through our personalized lesson plans, students will strengthen their math, reading and writing abilities. Along the way, they’ll also develop skills such as focus, independence and time management that go beyond the classroom.

We require new parents to attend an orientation and students to complete a placement test (free of cost and obligation) before we allow them to enrol. Families have an option to choose from Kumon Connect (tablet) study and/or paper worksheet study. Classes are open to all students from preschool to high school. At the orientation, you'll find out how Kumon's unique approach to learning can help your kids:

• Master math and reading, often helping them earn their best grades ever
• Build study skills such as confidence, focus and work ethic
• Reduce homework stress and test anxiety

Your child/children will complete an assessment that will give you:

• Valuable insights into where they stand in their learning
• A recommended progression path that shows what your kids can achieve in their first six months of Kumon

The instructor will prepare an individualized lesson plan for your kids and support them as they progress through Kumon.
