About the Center

Introduction

Welcome to our Kumon Math and Reading Center. For more than 60 years, Kumon’s after-school academic enrichment program has helped children achieve success worldwide. We strive to instill in children the desire to achieve and the motivation to learn on their own. Whether your child is seeking enrichment, needs help catching up or is just beginning his or her academic career, Kumon is designed to help him or her develop a love of learning.

Students advance through the program at their own pace. Our emphasis on individualized learning helps your child become focused, motivated and self-reliant. We monitor each child’s progress to ensure comprehension before moving on to a new concept. With a strong academic foundation, critical thinking and problem solving abilities, your child has the potential to achieve whatever he or she desires.

The Kumon Math Program is a comprehensive curriculum that develops the necessary skills to help children progress from counting through calculus. For more information about the Kumon Math Program.

The Kumon Reading Program begins with basic phonics and progresses all the way through advanced reading comprehension. For more information about the Kumon Reading Program.

Policies

Class Attendance

Class attendance is a vital part of the Kumon program. If a student is unable to attend class, please call the Center or send an email to [email protected] by 12:00 PM. This will allow time to adjust the student’s plan and prepare work to be picked up.

Vacations

Please inform the Instructor (via email) two weeks prior to vacations, so that the Instructor can plan and assign worksheets. Please indicate the class days to be missed and any adjustments required for the students’ workload.

Center Closures

The Kumon Math and Reading Center of Tampa - Carrollwood is closed during the Hillsborough County School District’s Spring Break week, Thanksgiving week, the week between Christmas and New Year’s, the week of July 4th, and on all major holidays. Students will have homework instead of attending class on these days. In case of emergencies or storms, we will follow the same closings as the Hillsborough County Public School District.

Absence Policy

Students may take a one-month break during each calendar year. Parents must notify the center by the 15th of the previous month if a student is going to take a one-month break. Any students who do not turn in any completed Kumon materials for one month without notifying the Center will be considered "discontinued" by corporate Kumon. If a "discontinued" student resumes Kumon study, a new registration fee will be charged, and the student must take another placement test.
