About Your Instructor
SHUJI KOMAGATA
Kumon has been a part of my life from my early childhood as a former student to becoming a second-generation instructor. As a former student of Kumon, I see and realize how the Kumon Method is a part of my character and that I can help all children develop life skills, including, being able to learn independently and develop academic discipline.
As a father of two, I have seen the Kumon Method nurture my own children’s overall development to self-learn and advance beyond their grade level and both my son and daughter completed the Program. I have witnessed how it contributes to their ability to thrive and achieve their goals.
Being an instructor is rewarding and fulfilling as I get to see students realize their own abilities to learn at their own pace with every concept and to watch their confidence and determination grow. By using the worksheets to create individualized lessons that develop mastery of foundational skills, students progress through math and reading and grow to independent learners. When parents see students analyze problems they’ve never encountered and have the ability to figure them out on their own, they realize how their child is equipped for the future. While Kumon is not a quick fix, and it isn’t always easy, families that make the commitment experience their children’s growth and witness them developing a love for learning.
