About the Center

Introduction

Welcome to the Kumon Math and Reading Center of Westchester. For over 25 years, our learning center has maintained a high rate of success with over 1,700 students. Many of our current students have been enrolled in our program for years and years because of the tremendous math and reading benefits they continue to receive.

For more than 60 years, Kumon’s after-school academic enrichment program has helped children achieve success worldwide. We strive to instill in children the desire to achieve and the motivation to learn on their own. Whether your child is seeking enrichment, needs help catching up or is just beginning his or her academic career, Kumon is designed to help him or her develop a love of learning.

Students advance through the program at their own pace. Our emphasis on individualized learning helps your child become focused, motivated and self-reliant. We monitor each child’s progress to ensure comprehension before moving on to a new concept. With a strong academic foundation, critical thinking and problem solving abilities, your child has the potential to achieve whatever he or she desires.

The Kumon Math Program is a comprehensive curriculum that develops the necessary skills to help children progress from counting through calculus. For more information about the Kumon Math Program, click here.

The Kumon Reading Program begins with basic phonics and progresses all the way through advanced reading comprehension. For more information about the Kumon Reading Program, click here.

Voyage L.A. Magazine featured the Kumon of Westchester in their "LA's Most Inspiring Stories" section in the July, 2018 issue. For a deeper look at our learning center’s origins and Instructor David’s journey, click here.

While most of our students attend public, private and charter schools within the communities of Westchester, Playa Vista, Playa Del Rey, Ladera Heights and Inglewood, the Kumon Math and Reading Program also works well for home schooled students, as an academic supplement to their home studies. The Kumon Center of Westchester is an approved service vendor for the following home school and independent study programs, for both math and reading/language arts academic enrichment: Inspire Charter Schools, iLead Exploration Home Study, Excel Academy, Sage Oak Charter, and Golden Valley Charter. Depending on your student’s school and grade level, you may be eligible for $2,700 to $5,000 in annual instructional funding that can be applied to your Kumon tuition (contact your school administration for details).

Price and Fees

Kumon offers two subjects (only): Math and Reading (English/ELA) and the monthly tuition is $210 per subject.  There is an additional one-time Registration Fee of $50 per student.

Policies

Kumon aims to make school easier for all students by bringing them significantly higher than grade level.  This is an ambitious, long term goal, and we do require a long term commitment of at least six months.  Enrollment in the program is granted by application only, and not all students may qualify.

Initial Placement Testing and Parent Orientation meetings are subject to availability, on a first-come first-serve basis, by appointment only. One to two weeks advance notice is recommended for scheduling this appointment.

Please contact us for additional center policies.
