About the Center

Introduction

Welcome to the Kumon Math and Reading Center of Austin-Avery Ranch.

For more than 60 years, Kumon’s after-school academic enrichment program has helped children achieve success worldwide. We strive to instill in children the desire to achieve and the motivation to learn on their own. Whether your child is seeking enrichment, needs help catching up or is just beginning his or her academic career, Kumon is designed to help him or her develop a love of learning.

Students advance through the program at their own pace. Our emphasis on individualized learning helps your child become focused, motivated and self-reliant. We monitor each child’s progress to ensure comprehension before moving on to a new concept. With a strong academic foundation, critical thinking and problem solving abilities, your child has the potential to achieve whatever he or she desires.

The Kumon Math Program is a comprehensive curriculum that develops the necessary skills to help children progress from counting through calculus. For more information about the Kumon Math Program, click here.

The Kumon Reading Program begins with basic phonics and progresses all the way through advanced reading comprehension. For more information about the Kumon Reading Program, click here.

MEET OUR TEAM

Stacie Hennig, Manager

Stacie joined the team at Kumon by way of first being a Kumon parent. She comes with her Bachelor of Science in Social Sciences with an emphasis on Psychology. As her own children have become more independent, she now feels blessed to be a part of the Kumon team. She started working at Kumon as a grader and has served in every role at the Center at one time or another, moving up through the ranks over the last 6 years. She thoroughly enjoys working with the young students at Kumon and loves seeing the joy in their eyes as they master new skills. She is integral in keeping the Center operations organized and running smoothly.

Sheri Davis, Front Desk Assistant and HR Manager

Sheri began her relationship with Kumon as a Kumon parent 11 years ago and has been the friendly face greeting Kumon families for almost as many years. She has experience working in Office Management, Human Resources and Customer Service. Sheri's favorite part of Kumon is getting to know our students and their families.

Margarita Blanco, Front Desk Assistant

Margarita became an instant fit at Kumon with her warm, welcoming and calming presence. In years past, she taught English and worked in Customer Service. Her British accent is lovely to listen to! She loves that students work to study above their grade level at Kumon, and that each child goes at their own pace. As a parent herself, she appreciates the responsibility and independence Kumon instills in our students.

Policies

Policies Agreement:

- I understand that my child's Kumon worksheets or score cards need to be submitted on a weekly basis.

- I understand that I am committing to holding my child accountable for doing their homework for Kumon, daily.

- I understand that my child needs to attend in-person classes regularly.

- I understand there is a 30-45 day notice policy if I want to stop my child's Kumon at any time, and I will need a Parent Conference to discontinue. The last day will be set up at the end of a calendar month, depending on when I put my notice in.

- If my child misses an in-person class, makeups are not available.

- Homework is available in lieu of a missed class, in real-time, not in arrears.

- Kumon is not responsible or liable for my child in the Waiting Area after his/her class. I will be there to walk in and to receive my child before and after class.

- I understand the amount of time my child spends in the classroom is based on completion of his/her daily assignment and may not utilize his/her entire 30 minute scheduled time slot.

- Every tax season, many Kumon instructors are asked to provide their tax identification numbers to parents. However, Kumon North America, Inc. has advised Instructors that they are not required to supply this information because Kumon tuition does not qualify as child care or dependent care expenses.
Many employers have established Flexible Spending Accounts for their employees. A number parents who contribute to these accounts believe Kumon tuition is an eligible expense for childcare or dependent care. Unfortunately, the tuition payments do not qualify.
Your Kumon Center is not a day care center and does not provide childcare services. Therefore, the tuition paid to attend a Kumon Center does not qualify as a child care or dependent care expense. As a result, Kumon Instructors are under no obligation to provide their employer identification number.
