Center Calendar
Kumon is a year-round program of study. Although, we do follow Issaquah School District Calendar and observe some national holidays as well as breaks in summer and winter, specific dates of center closings will be posted in the parent waiting area.
Kumon homework is assigned 365 days per year unless otherwise requested at the time of registration or at least one week prior to any adjustment request. Parents may request weekends or vacations free from Kumon study one week in advance.
Class Attendance
Class attendance is a vital part of the Kumon Program. Observing students working in class assists greatly in the planning process for students. We also prefer to introduce new concepts in class so we may assist your child in reaching his/her Kumon goals.
In case of absences, parents need to make arrangements to pick up the homework from the center.
Workload
The instructor determines the number of worksheets assigned. It is important that the student is given the appropriate level and the amount of work. Parental feedback regarding student’s work is always welcome. Please contact the center at least a day before the class to discuss any adjustments or concerns regarding your child’s Kumon study plan. Any adjustments to the workload are at the discretion of the instructor.
Vacations
Parents should inform the Kumon Staff about any planned vacations at least SEVEN days (one week) prior to leaving for vacation. This will allow for the student’s homework to be prepared and his/her lesson plan adjusted well in advance of departure for a vacation. We suggest that students take their Kumon homework along with them during the vacation. We do not suggest students take long vacation exceeded two months.
Worksheets
The student is expected to return all assigned homework on the following class day. All completed homework need to be graded and corrected before leaving the center. The worksheets are then left at the center for review by the instructor. Upon correcting, grading and entering of the worksheets into the lesson plan database. Please contact us if students want to keep the completed worksheets. Otherwise, we will recycle them.
Communication
Continual communication between parents, student, and the instructor is important to the success of your student. There are many ways for parents, students to communicate with your instructor, such as communication notes, phone calls, emails, and parent conferences. You may also request to schedule a meeting with your instructor at any time to discuss your child's progress. Please note that meetings will not be scheduled during class time.
Please feel free to email us with any questions or concerns you have!
