About the Center

Introduction

Welcome to our Kumon Math and Reading Center. For more than 60 years, Kumon’s after-school academic enrichment program has helped children achieve success worldwide. We strive to instill in children the desire to achieve and the motivation to learn on their own. Whether your child is seeking enrichment, needs help catching up or is just beginning his or her academic career, Kumon is designed to help him or her develop a love of learning.

Students advance through the program at their own pace. Our emphasis on individualized learning helps your child become focused, motivated and self-reliant. We monitor each child’s progress to ensure comprehension before moving on to a new concept. With a strong academic foundation, critical thinking and problem solving abilities, your child has the potential to achieve whatever he or she desires.

The Kumon Math Program is a comprehensive curriculum that develops the necessary skills to help children progress from counting through calculus. For more information about the Kumon Math Program.

Policies

CENTER POLICIES


CLASS SCHEDULE 

  • A One-subject student’s session is approximately 20-30 minutes per subject. A Two subject student’s session is approximately 45 minutes to 1 hour. 
  • All Kumon students attend 2 scheduled sessions per week and will receive homework for the other 5 days. Note: It is important to be present for your scheduled class. If your student misses their class, we cannot accommodate make-ups, but the material is always available to you for pick-up. 
  • Students absent for more than one month during a calendar year must re-register and pay the registration fee to resume Kumon study.
  • If you choose to switch your child from one subject to another ex: math to reading or vis versa you will need to pay the registration fee as it is counted by subject at Kumon Corporate not by student. 
  • If you choose to add a subject, you DO NOT have to pay to reregister your child.

CENTER STUDY SESSION

  • Parents must wait for their child in the center or in your car in front of the center at the time your student finishes her/his class.
  • No cell phones, games, music, food or drinks are permitted in the Kumon Center. 

PARENT COMMUNICATION

  • Kumon Instructors welcome communication and encourage parents to ask questions about their child’s progress. Call or email the center during office hours to talk to the Kumon Instructor, to schedule a meeting, or parent conference.
  • Our class hours are Tuesdays, Wednesday and Thursdays from 3:00pm –7:00 PM.
  • The Instructor is available to schedule Parent meetings from 10-2 PM M,T,W,TH
  • Regular Kumon information will be sent to the parents in the child’s homework bag, by email or text message.
  • Only students may enter the Kumon study area. During the Kumon Center session, please leave a note regarding your comment, questions or request

TUITION PAYMENT POLICY

  • We accept credit/debit cards and EFT (Electronic Funds Transfer). A $10 fee will be charged for declined credit cards. We also take checks written out to KLC CAPE ELIZABETH LLC or ZELLE payments
  • Tuition is non-refundable once a student has started receiving work assignments for the month.
  • Upon enrollment, your registration and materials fees and the 1st month tuition are due. Tuition is processed on the 1st of the month. For example, tuition for January is charged on January 1st. If the 1st lands on a weekend or holiday, the payment will be withdrawn on the next business day.

VACATION / ABSENCE POLICY

  • Please give one week notice prior to a vacation to ensure that your child’s Kumon work is prepared in advance.
  • Kumon is a year-round program. Daily study is an integral part of the Kumon method and is highly encouraged in order to reap the program’s benefits. However, parents may request weekends or vacations free from Kumon study (not from payment) in advance.
  • All Kumon students and parents will be asked to commit to a specific time slot for class sessions. It is important that students arrive on time to complete their assignment(s). Observing students during class assists greatly in the planning process.
  • If you cannot make it to class, your child’s classwork and homework will be at your disposition at the center. You may pick it up before the next class.
  • Students absent for more than one month during a calendar year must re-register and pay the registration fee to resume Kumon study.

CENTER CLOSINGS

  • Kumon Centers follow public school decisions on whether to open/close for inclement weather.
  • Kumon is closed for most National Holidays and during the last week of the year Specific dates of center closing will be posted at the entrance or sent by email or text message.

STUDENT RULES

  • Please…Do not bring food and/or drink into the center. Only water in their own water bottle is allowed.
  • Please don't run inside the center and use a quiet classroom voice while in the center.
  • Respect other people’s belongings.
  • Be considerate of the right of others to learn.
  • Treat all students, staff, and the Instructor in a respectful manner.
  • Discuss any problems you are having with the Instructor.
  • Always remember to try your best.
  • Bring your assignments done in order and clean, separated in math and reading. Bring also the assignments incomplete for better planning of your progress.

PARENT GUIDELINES

  • Wait for your child inside the parent waiting areas or in the car in front of the front door.
  • Respect that the center class hours are focused on the students, we will not be able to talk/meet with parents during this time. Please refrain from entering the classroom.
  • Use a quiet classroom voice while at the Front Desk.

If you wish to discontinue Kumon, we have a fifteen (15) day cancellation policy. You must provide written notice of stopping or transferring. We will count out days from your notice and the month that day falls into will be the last month of which tuition will be collected. A Kumon month starts on the first day of each month. You will owe tuition the entire month regardless of what day of the month you leave the center
