About Your Instructor
Tommy Henley III
Tommy was born and raised in Chicago. He has been serving schools for over ten years in Illinois, New York, Pennsylvania, and Connecticut. Tommy started his career as a Teach for America IB Spanish Literature Teacher in the neighborhood he grew up in! He remained as a Spanish Literature Teacher for Heritage Speakers for 5 years. He has spent the last several years in a large charter school organization where he has held leadership roles at both the school and central office levels. In those roles, he supported students, teachers, and school leaders across multiple campuses in two different states. Before that time, Tommy served as the Chief Executive Officer for a small charter school network in central PA.
Tommy earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish Literary Education and Master of Arts in Latin American and Black Studies from Northeastern Illinois University. Additionally, he holds a Doctorate of Education in Educational Leadership.
