Welcome to our Kumon Math and Reading Center of Centennial – Foxfield. Our Kumon Center serves the serving Centennial, Aurora and Foxfield areas.
For more than 50 years, Kumon’s after-school academic enrichment program has helped children achieve success worldwide. We strive to instill in children the desire to achieve and the motivation to learn on their own. Whether your child is seeking enrichment, needs help catching up or is just beginning his or her academic career, Kumon is designed to help him or her develop a love of learning.
Students advance through the program at their own pace. Our emphasis on individualized learning helps your child become focused, motivated and self-reliant. We monitor each child’s progress to ensure comprehension before moving on to a new concept. With a strong academic foundation, critical thinking and problem solving abilities, your child has the potential to achieve whatever he or she desires.
The Kumon Math Program is a comprehensive curriculum that develops the necessary skills to help children progress from counting through calculus. Our goal is to get your child to work and master Calculus before High school. For more information about the Kumon Math Program, click here.
The Kumon Reading Program begins with basic phonics and progresses all the way through advanced reading comprehension. Our goal is to get your child read and critique Shakespeare before they enter High School. For more information about the Kumon Reading Program, click here.
To put it in a nutshell, as the instructor, Ms. Fee tells the students "I want you to be 'THE BOSS' of Math and Reading!"
Price and Fees
Kumon of Centennial - Foxfield offers four options to parents with discounts for paying in advance for 6 months or a year, longer-term agreements, and added subjects or siblings. Our specific rates are provided to parents during the Parent Orientation, and we are significantly less expensive than private tutors and "quick fix" types of tutoring programs in the surrounding area. Our mission at Kumon is to bring the Kumon Method of Learning to as many students as possible, and therefore, we keep our pricing extremely reasonable for a wide range of families and budgets.
There is no charge for placement testing, and we do not ask parents to pay a fee to learn the results of the test. There is a one-time registration fee which is discussed at orientation. We can generally start students in the program within 1-3 class days.
The KMRC of Centennial - Foxfield (that also serves the city of Aurora), nurtures better learning habits in kids by instilling a good work ethic and discipline. This unique self-study based method will enable each child to realize their true potential and achieve lasting academic success.
A detailed set of Kumon Center policies is provided during the Parent Orientation prior to enrollment. The basics which Ms. Fe applies to all enrolled families include:
Classes are held on Mondays ,Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 3pm-7pm. Students are expected to attend class on two days unless the parents discuss changes with Ms. Fe in advance.
Kumon is not tutoring. Kumon encourages independent learning, however the instructor provides the required guidance. Kumon follows its own curriculum. The curriculum matches school at times, and at times, it does not.
All students begin with a Comfortable Starting Point in Kumon. This is significantly lower than the actual ability or schoolwork. The starting point is non-negotiable.
Mastery of material (worksheets) is determined by accuracy time taken. Students are expected to practice material on several occasions by repeating the worksheets. All students do necessary repetition in Kumon. We believe that not only does Practice make perfect, but PERFECT PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT!
Kumon students work independently for about thirty minutes per subject daily. They are expected to complete the assignments and make corrections every day. Students attend the center twice a week and work at home for the rest of the days. The class work is graded at the center and homework is graded at home by the parents. Home grading is vital for the effectiveness of the Kumon program. If students fix corrections daily, they are less likely to repeat the same mistakes. Students are required to bring their homework promptly to be reviewed by the instructor.
Parents are requested to wait in the parent waiting area. The classroom is for students only. Parents are required to keep voices down. Students can hear the outside noise and get distracted from their work.
Regular communication between parents and the Instructor is expected. As at school, the top performing Kumon students are supported by parents who routinely discuss their student's lesson plan, schedule and student-unique learning needs with the Instructor.
We use a classroom approach for instruction. Student independence and self-learning are core principles of the Kumon Method of Learning which involves individualized study, not one-on-one tutoring.
Policies pertaining to monthly tuition payments, parent expectations, student behavior and other matters are provided during the Parent Orientation.
