About the Center

Introduction

Welcome to the Kumon Math and Reading Center of Frederkisburg - Northwest. We are currently and conveniently located at 560 Celebrate Va. Parkway Suite 103, Fredericksburg, Va. 22406.

You can find us off 17N (Warrenton Rd) in the Celebrate Virginia S/C in the opposite end of Giant. My center caters to the academic needs of Fredericksburg, Spotsylvania, and Stafford Va. and I also work with students from other areas as needed.

For over 60 years Kumon Math and Reading Centers has developed the untapped potential of each child through building confidence and developing skills in the fundamental building blocks of math and reading. At Kumon, we believe that every child has the potential to learn far beyond set expectations. It is the job of our Kumon Center to encourage each child to want to learn, to enjoy learning, and to be capable of studying successfully in the future.

Students advance through the program at their own pace. Our emphasis on individualized learning helps your child become focused, motivated and self-reliant. We monitor each child’s progress to ensure comprehension before moving on to a new concept. With a strong academic foundation, critical thinking and problem solving abilities, your child has the potential to achieve whatever he or she desires.

The Kumon Math Program is a comprehensive curriculum that develops the necessary skills to help children progress from counting through calculus.

The Kumon Reading Program begins with basic phonics and progresses all the way through advanced reading comprehension.

Va has approved Kumon Fredericksburg-Northwest to receive grants. While the money last every child is approved for $1500.00. For low income, the grant can be up to $3000.00.  You can go to https://www.doe.virginia.gov/parents-students/for-parents to get more information.

HOME GRADING

We encourage parents to grade their child’s Kumon worksheets completed at home and the students to correct all mistakes before bringing them back to the center. This ensures that the students receive immediate feed back on their work and make corrections early in the process, before mistakes become problematic and hinder progress. To aid the process of home grading, we offer grading training sessions for parents as necessary and provide parents answer booklets. If you encounter any problems while home grading, we encourage you to set up an appointment with the Instructor to discuss the matter.

COMMUNICATION

Parents will receive regular updates about their child’s progress from the Instructor. This could be in the form of phone calls, achievement reports, progress goals and parent conferences. If you would like to contact the Instructor, we encourage you to send an email, call or leave a message. The instruction hours are dedicated entirely to the students and we discourage parents from speaking with the Instructor during class hours.

ABSENCE POLICY

Please note that students may be absent from Kumon study for no more than one continuous month. After more than one month of absence, when the student resumes, he/she will be considered as "discontinued" and the registration fee applicable at that time will be charged and placement test re-administered. All existing Kumon points will also be lost.

TERMINATION POLICY

If a student is going to drop out of class, either temporarily or indefinitely, a written notice is required at least 30 days before the effective date.
