Welcome to our Kumon Math and Reading Center. For more than 60 years, Kumon’s after-school academic enrichment program has helped children achieve success worldwide. We strive to instill in children the desire to achieve and the motivation to learn on their own. Whether your child is seeking enrichment, needs help catching up or is just beginning his or her academic career, Kumon is designed to help him or her develop a love of learning.
Students advance through the program at their own pace. Our emphasis on individualized learning helps your child become focused, motivated and self-reliant. We monitor each child’s progress to ensure comprehension before moving on to a new concept. With a strong academic foundation, critical thinking and problem solving abilities, your child has the potential to achieve whatever he or she desires.
The Kumon Math Program is a comprehensive curriculum that develops the necessary skills to help children progress from counting through calculus. For more information about the Kumon Math Program, click here.

Here are our top tips to support Kumon learners of all ages!
For our Younger Learners:
1) Establish a “Kumon” habit. Since birth, young children thrive following a set routine and structure. Why not do the same with Kumon? Establishing a set Kumon time for your child will build a learning habit that can ensure success.
2) Emphasize a good study posture. A lot of physical developments are occurring for your child, so a good study posture is very important. Ensure that the chair and table are at a proper height. A good reference point is that your child’s waist should be at the same level as the table.
3) Promote curiosity. Completing Kumon worksheets can be fun! Look through the worksheets with your child before they start. Examine the illustrations. Have your child guess what he or she will be learning today.
4) Be positive. Praise your child. When you praise your child and are excited about your child’s day-to-day efforts, your child will be motivated and feel proud. Some parents find it helpful to create a reward system, such as collecting stickers to exchange for prizes.
5) Enjoy the Recommended Reading List and Read-Aloud List. The Kumon Program is not exclusively worksheet-based. There is an extensive book list available for your child, called the Recommended Reading List, which will help you to read with your child, as well as the Read-Aloud List, to enhance their language ability. Many of these books are available as eBooks and on YouTube with the authors reading their own books aloud. Utilize these books to read with your child and create a bonding moment while fostering a love for learning at the same time!
For our Older Learners:
1) Create a distraction-free study area. Keep the study area to the basics: worksheets, pencils, an eraser and a sharpener. The TV should be turned off, and gadgets and toys should be away from view.
2) Establish a consistent homework routine. A designated “Kumon time” each day sets clear expectations, promotes strong study habits and starts to establish time management skills. “Kumon time” can be in the morning, afternoon or night. Explore different times to find when works best for you and your child.
3) Guide your child through Kumon. Although we’re developing self-learners, your child still needs help with guidance through the worksheets. Ensure that your child is writing their start and finish times which should be filled out on the first page of the assignment only. This will help measure their timing and accuracy.
4) Enthusiasm is contagious. When you praise and are excited about your child’s day-to-day effort, your child will be motivated and feel proud. Some parents find it helpful to create a reward system, such as collecting stickers to exchange for prizes or family movie nights.
5) Develop important study habits. One of the primary goals of Kumon is to develop independent self-learners. Through the development of study habits and study attitude to self-learn, Kumon students are able to study years beyond their grade level. As your child does home assignments, please make sure that they are getting into the habit of reading directions and studying examples before writing their answers neatly.
6) Making mistakes is okay. Developing an attitude to try on their own the first time (without asking questions) is crucial to help build their confidence and motivation. If they get it wrong, praise them for giving it a shot!
