About Your Instructor
LORRAINE ROBINSON
My name is Lorraine Robinson and I am celebrating my 24th year as a Kumon Instructor. Still loving it! I believe the years have flown by because of the sense of reward I experience from helping students improve academically.
I became an Instructor near the end of a 20 year career in the corporate arena. Prior to my corporate career, I worked for several years with nonprofit and social services agencies. I earned a B.S. degree from Vassar College following graduation from St. Mary’s Academy in New Orleans, La. I completed my MBA from George Mason University while working in the corporate sector. In fact, I first became aware of Kumon from a business contact during a break in a meeting. He was very happy with the results his daughter had experienced. Though my son was an excellent student, I decided to investigate the Kumon program and decided to schedule an appointment. During the parent orientation, when I saw the way the Kumon program structured the sequence of concepts and the range of the levels, I felt that I had lucked upon a goldmine! We decided to give the program a try, and appreciated many times over making that decision.
Within the first year of my son’s enrollment, I had the opportunity to take over the newly opened corporate center in Herndon. Nearing retirement, the transition to Kumon Instructor seemed natural, since my husband and I always enjoyed mentoring and encouraging young people in our community.
My first impressions of Kumon have grown stronger and deeper over the years. I have become even more impressed with Kumon’s foundation building strategy, and the thoroughness of the Kumon curriculum. Offering individualized lesson plans and guiding students to be independent self-learners, it is my pleasure to serve as your student's Kumon mentor.
I remain appreciative of the opportunity to utilize the Kumon method to help students build confidence, experience the exhilaration of overcoming struggles, and to help many reach and maintain grade level or advanced study. Like all Kumon Instructors I have a true passion for education and an earnest desire to help children succeed.
