About Your Instructor

Melissa Lee-Doan

Melissa, owner and instructor of Kumon of Woodland Heights, is a Houston native and University of Houston graduate. She holds a Bachelor of Business Administration and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology, with a minor in Sociology. Her professional background includes experience with Fortune 500 companies in the oil and gas industry.

Her children are the inspiration behind her Kumon journey. As a parent of current Kumon students, she has seen firsthand how the program supports academic growth while building confidence, independence, and strong study habits.

The value of Kumon became especially clear to her in 2020, when her children were entering kindergarten and third grade during the pandemic. With schools meeting virtually and no clear timeline for returning to classrooms, Kumon provided consistency and a strong learning foundation that helped her children continue to thrive.

Their growth inspired her to help other children experience those same benefits. At Kumon of Woodland Heights, she is dedicated to helping every student build the skills and confidence to become an independent learner.

How Does the Assessment Work?

Your free assessment helps us understand your child’s current learning level so we can recommend the best starting point. During the assessment, your child will complete a placement test, and the instructor will review the results with you and explain how the Kumon Program can support your child’s individual learning needs.

There is no obligation to enroll, and you can reschedule your appointment at any time.
