Welcome!
I'm Muhammad Iqbal, but you can call me Mr. IQ. I’m proud to serve as the Instructor at Kumon of Katy Grand Parkway West – Math and Reading Center. With a deep commitment to education and decades of academic and professional experience, I’m here to guide your child on a path to independent, confident learning.
Educational & Professional Background
Began my academic and professional journey in Michigan in 1993
Earned a Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Detroit Mercy (Summa Cum Laude)
Built a successful 25-year career at Chrysler and Ford Motor Company
Operated a private learning center in Michigan from 2015 to 2020
Relocated to Texas in 2024 and trained under Kumon’s Instructor Development Program
Spent two months as an Assistant Instructor at this center to ensure a seamless transition into my current role
My Journey with Kumon
I am not only an instructor but also a former Kumon parent of three children. I know firsthand the challenges families face and the incredible long-term value the Kumon Method provides. This experience has shaped my understanding and passion for individualized learning.
My Teaching Philosophy
At Kumon, every child is capable of far more than we imagine. My role is to:
Guide students through the Kumon curriculum with patience, support, and encouragement
Ensure each student is placed at the "just right" level—challenging, but not frustrating
Create customized study plans tailored to each student’s needs and pace
Promote accuracy, time awareness, and daily progress
Partner with parents to share updates, address concerns, and celebrate successes
My Mission
I believe in nurturing independent learners who are confident, motivated, and self-reliant. By fostering consistent study habits and critical thinking, I strive to help every student experience the joy of achieving their academic goals.
