David Campos
David notes, “I became a Kumon Instructor because I believe that a firm foundation is the key to a successful academic career and the Kumon Method provides that foundation. It is my goal to have students study high school level material before reaching high school and the Kumon Method aligns well with my belief that children can reach unexpected heights, if given the opportunity. It is my long-term goal to get all of the students in my center working above grade level. I firmly understand that Kumon is not a "quick fix" method in which children are taught enough to get through their next test. The goal is not to just get by, it is to learn for the long-term.”
For many children, the road to success begins with simply having the confidence to say "I can do it." This simple statement can be the difference between success and failure. The first thing I do for all students at the center is to instill that confidence. I do not accept "I can't" from any of the children. Once the children see that they can succeed, they are ready to take on the challenges presented when new material is encountered. Additionally, once students realize that it is OK to make mistakes, they are no longer afraid to try. At this point, they can begin to reach their full potential. David’s road to education began in his freshman year of high school when he wanted to earn pocket money. At age 13, he began tutoring neighborhood kids in Algebra. He developed a passion for tutoring and this passion continued through high school, undergraduate college as well as Grad school. Ultimately, David trained Engineers and Field Engineers, but then went back to his roots in the field of education.
David’s job opportunities became nation-wide and then world-wide. All the while, his son attended Kumon which helped transform his son from a C student to an A student. It was this inspiring transformation that made him a believer in the Kumon Method and ultimately decide to become a Kumon Instructor.
David is married and has a son who is currently studying advanced math and reading at Kumon 2 years ahead of his grade level. David’s son enjoys playing classical piano and doing computer coding. He also enjoys playing soccer and Lacrosse.
