About the Center

Introduction

Welcome to our Kumon Math and Reading Center of Layton!

For more than 60 years, Kumon’s after-school academic enrichment program has helped children achieve success worldwide. We strive to instill in children the desire to achieve and the motivation to learn on their own. Whether your child is seeking enrichment, needs help catching up or is just beginning his or her academic career, Kumon is designed to help him or her develop a love of learning.

Students advance through the program at their own pace. Our emphasis on individualized learning helps your child become focused, motivated and self-reliant. We monitor each child’s progress to ensure comprehension before moving on to a new concept. With a strong academic foundation, critical thinking and problem solving abilities, your child has the potential to achieve whatever he or she desires.

The Kumon Math Program is a comprehensive curriculum that develops the necessary skills to help children progress from counting through calculus. Click here for more information about the Kumon Math Program.

The Kumon Reading Program begins with basic phonics and progresses all the way through advanced reading comprehension. Click here for more information about the Kumon Reading Program.

Meet Our Team!

Ray - I'm currently a student at the University of Utah, pursuing a degree in Computer Science. I was born and grew up in Japan, until the age of 9. I achieved level K in math when I attended Kumon as a student. Now as an employee, I still enjoy Kumon because I enjoy working with the students and getting to see each of their “light bulb” moments when they finally understand a concept or feel successful in their learning.

Ben - I'm currently a Junior in high school. I'm taking a variety of AP and CE courses this year. I've played piano for the past ten years, with the Superior Distinction achievement several times. I participate in Debate and Mock Trial. I enjoy working at Kumon because it gives me an opportunity to interact with and understand successful learning processes found within Kumon and its students. In the future, I hope to pursue Psychology.

Lilly - I'm currently a Junior in high school. I've taken many Early Childhood Education classes offered by my schools in-house childcare center. My academics consist of AP and CE courses, along with my extracurriculars of Debate (Captain), National Honors Society, and Mock Trial (Captain). I enjoy working at Kumon because I get to really focus on working with the students and developing their skills and confidence. Kumon also gives me an opportunity to know each student and understand how they will best learn the material to find success.

Brooklyn- I am a freshman at Weber State University majoring in Elementary Education with a minor in Japanese! I worked in a Kumon center all through high school in Portland, Oregon. I love to express creativity in all I do, and find working with children a fantastic opportunity to apply that creativity. Kumon is enioyable for me because it gives me an insight on how every child thinks. It helps me develop better skills when a child makes a mistake and I am able to help them, or a child understands something I am guiding them on. I love seeing children enjoy their learning and build up what it takes to be a great student.
