About Your Instructor
Lynn Shimohara-Lee
I grew up in the South Bay and began my Kumon journey at the age of 5, continuing the program until I was 13 years old. I can personally speak to how much the Kumon Method shaped my life, not just in school, but throughout my professional career.
After graduating from UCLA with a degree in Mathematics, I spent over 20 years in the Aerospace industry. Throughout that time, I always thought my path would eventually lead me to become a Kumon Instructor. That experience, combined with my Kumon background, has given me a unique appreciation for how and why Kumon is so successful and the largest supplemental learning program in the world.
I’m a proud Kumon parent of two amazing daughters, so I understand the commitment and teamwork it takes between instructor, student, and family to maximize the benefits from the program. My oldest is doing high school-level math and reading as a 3rd grader, and is on target to complete the Kumon Reading program in 4th grade. My 1st grader is on the same path, and I see the confidence it has given them both inside and outside of school.
As an instructor, I want to create a supportive environment where students are challenged, encouraged, and celebrated. Kumon is not just an after-school enrichment program, but a proven academic system that helps children become independent thinkers, build successful study habits, and nurture a love for learning. Through individualized lesson plans and daily practice, we help each child reach their full potential at their own pace.
