About the Center

Introduction

Welcome to the Kumon Math and Reading Center of Mandeville - Central. We have been open in Mandeville since 2001 and have had the privilege of working with many children and families on the north shore. For nearly 60 years, Kumon’s after-school academic enrichment program has helped children achieve success worldwide. We strive to instill in children the desire to achieve and the motivation to learn on their own. Whether your child is seeking enrichment, needs help catching up or is just beginning his or her academic career, Kumon is designed to help your child develop a love of learning.

Students advance through the program at their own pace. Our emphasis on individualized learning helps your child become focused, motivated and self-reliant. We monitor each child’s progress to ensure comprehension before moving on to a new concept. With a strong academic foundation, critical thinking and problem solving abilities, your child has the potential to achieve whatever he or she desires.

The Kumon Math Program is a comprehensive curriculum that develops the necessary skills to help children progress from counting through calculus. For more information about the Kumon Math Program, click here.

The Kumon Reading Program begins with basic phonics and progresses all the way through advanced reading comprehension. For more information about the Kumon Reading Program, click here.

Policies

Tuition Policy
Tuition is due on the 1st of the month for the current month. For example, January's tuition is due January 1st. Special accommodations to this schedule may be made upon request.

Tuition may be paid by automatic bank draft, American Express, VISA, Mastercard, or Discover. No check payments will be accepted unless approved by center owners. For patrons wishing to pay by check, 2 full months will be collected upon registration and all tuition must be paid one full month in advance.

For students who will withdraw from the program, written notice must be given 30 days prior to withdrawal in order to guarantee termination of automatic payments. For instance, students withdrawing in February should give notice in writing (email is acceptable) by January 1st.

Packet Assignments
All work for the week is sent home on Mondays, unless the student only attends on Thursdays (then all work is sent home on Thursday for the following week). Class work is completed, graded, and corrected during the center visit. When the student returns to class on Thursday, the completed assignments for Tuesday and Wednesday should be submitted, and Thursday's assignment should be completed. Please be sure your child brings Thursday's assignment to class. On Mondays, students should submit their completed assignments for Friday through Sunday. Any incomplete work will be reassigned.

Home Grading
Parents should grade all home assignments and return them to their child for corrections. This should be done in close timing with completion of the assignment. One of the components of the Kumon Program is learning from correcting errors. If students are able to quickly and easily correct mistakes shortly after making them, they will progress smoothly through future assignments. If, however, the student has difficulty correcting errors or continues to make similar errors, parents should notify a Kumon staff member. Notification methods include email ([email protected]), a note attached to homework (all work returned to our center is reviewed and entered into Kumon software program), or an alert at the next Kumon session.

Planned Absences
Please give us 2 weeks notice if you are planning on being out. The best way to notify us is by email ([email protected]) or by leaving a note with the front desk. This will ensure that we properly pack work for your student to take while out of the center.
