PAUL WINFIELD
A proud native of Baltimore, Paul Winfield is a first-generation college graduate who has dedicated his career to education and mentorship. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Coppin State University and went on to achieve a Master's in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
In 2003, Paul Winfield made history by becoming the first male teacher to be named Baltimore County Teacher of the Year, a prestigious recognition awarded to him in honor of his impactful work. This recognition required Mr. Winfield to be the face of BCPS in representing over 8,000 schoolteachers and paraprofessional staff. Following this achievement, he took on the role of Mentor Teacher Trainer, where he has been instrumental in guiding first- and second-year teachers, fostering a supportive and enriching environment for new educators.
With a deep commitment to improving educational practices and empowering future generations, Mr. Winfield continues to inspire both students and colleagues alike. Known affectionately as Mr. Paul by his students, families, and staff, he has been a dedicated Kumon instructor for over 20 years. Throughout his career, Mr. Paul has cultivated a long list of former students who have gone on to attend Ivy League universities, receiving full scholarships to colleges and universities across the country.
Today, Mr. Paul continues to inspire those around him, shaping the future of countless students. In the past eight years, Mr. Paul was fortunate to mentor and train two individuals that worked for him as high school students to become instructors and open their own Kumon centers in Baltimore County.
