Mrs. Lina Chen is the director of Kumon Math and Reading Center of Machesney Park. She attained her bachelor and master degrees in chemical engineering in China and Singapore. She has also worked as a chemical engineer and a certified tax preparer for many years before she became the Instructor of the Kumon Math and Reading Center of Machesney Park. Mrs. Chen is married to Mr. Hui Lin and have two sons who are currently enrolled in the gifted program in Rockford public schools.   Her own experience as a long-time Kumon parent of two sons has enabled her to understand and appreciate Kumon from a parent’s perspective and has made her a true believer of the Kumon program. Her older son was the first one to finish the math program at this center and scored a perfect score in his ACT test this April, which was living proof of how the Kumon program could benefit a student’s academic success. Kumon made all the difference -- not only in terms of her son’s success in math and reading but also in building his self-confidence and self-learning skills.   Mrs.Chen passionately believes that all students can benefit from the Kumon program just as her own child has. Mrs. Chen works very closely with each individual student and his or her family to create the best study plan possible for the student, whether the need is for remedial help or for advanced study.
