About the Center

Welcome to the Kumon Math and Reading Center of San Carlos!
We have been serving students in San Carlos, Redwood Shores and the surrounding area for over 17 years. Instructor Michelle Dunn opened the Kumon Math and Reading Center in 2003. Supporting hundreds of students locally over the years has made the San Carlos Kumon a reliable resource for Math and Reading skills development for children ages 3 years old through high school.

Kumon goes beyond tutoring.  For more than 60 years, Kumon’s after-school academic enrichment program has helped children achieve success worldwide. We strive to instill in children the desire to achieve and the motivation to learn on their own. Whether your child is seeking enrichment, needs help catching up or is just beginning his or her academic career, Kumon is designed to help him or her develop a love of learning.

Students advance through the program at their own pace. Our emphasis on individualized learning helps your child become focused, motivated and self-reliant. We monitor each child’s progress to ensure comprehension before moving on to a new concept. With a strong academic foundation, critical thinking and problem solving abilities, your child has the potential to achieve whatever he or she desires.

The Kumon Math Program is a comprehensive curriculum that develops the necessary skills to help children progress from counting through calculus. Learn more information about the Kumon Math Program.

Please call or schedule a free orientation/placement test for information on pricing. We are significantly less than tutoring programs and "quick fix" options. 

Enrollment period:

Kumon is a long term program (not a one or two week class) and at least one year of Kumon studies is recommended to study beyond grade level.

Absent from class and picking up work:

Call the center by closing (6 pm on Monday & Thursday) and let us know if you would like to pick up the worksheets. We will leave them outside in the pick up box.

Vacation Notice:

Please inform the Instructor one week before your vacation so we can prepare the extra homework packets. You may request a modification to the number of pages given or request no homework at all during vacation.
