About the Center

Introduction

Welcome to the Kumon Math and Reading Center of Schertz. For more than 60 years, Kumon’s after-school academic enrichment program has helped children achieve success worldwide. We strive to instill in children the desire to achieve and the motivation to learn on their own. Whether your child is seeking enrichment, needs help catching up or is just beginning his or her academic career, Kumon is designed to help him or her develop a love of learning.

Students advance through the program at their own pace. Our emphasis on individualized learning helps your child become focused, motivated and self-reliant. We monitor each child’s progress to ensure comprehension before moving on to a new concept. With a strong academic foundation, critical thinking and problem solving abilities, your child has the potential to achieve whatever he or she desires.

The Kumon Math Program is a comprehensive curriculum that develops the necessary skills to help children progress from counting through calculus. For more information about the Kumon Math Program, click here.

The Kumon Reading Program begins with basic phonics and progresses all the way through advanced reading comprehension. For more information about the Kumon Reading Program, click here.

The Kumon of Schertz Center is located in a shopping center at 5580 FM 3009, Suite 114, Schertz. We are behind a Whataburger and in front of a Wal-Mart. We look forward to seeing you.

Policies

Kumon is a long-term, year-round program. Daily study is an imperative part of the Kumon Method and is highly encouraged in order to reap the program’s benefits. Kumon worksheets are assigned 365 days per year, however adjustments can be made upon request at the discretion of the instructor. If you are planning on vacationing, please let us know at least a week in advance and we will put together a packet to cover the student’s time away if desired. It is completely understandable to take off holidays such as Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s Day. While daily Kumon study is important, so is having a fun and relaxing holiday.

Class attendance is a vital part of the Kumon Program. Observing students work in class greatly assists the instructor in planning the student’s study plan. If a student is unable to attend class, please call the Center prior to class time on the day of the class and leave a message to allow us time to prepare their work for pick-up. At the parent’s request, work for absent students can be left outside for pick-up.

It is important for the student to arrive on time to complete their assignment and supplemental activities for the day. We staff our classroom and assign student seats based on the time your student is scheduled to come to class. If your student will be attending class at a day/time is different than their schedule, it is imperative that our office is notified so that we can make the proper adjustments.

The Kumon Math & Reading Center of Schertz is open throughout the year, with the exception of certain holidays. You will receive advance notice of closures via e-mail and signs posted in the waiting area. The center may also close due inclement weather or other emergencies.
