Our center is a welcoming, professionally designed, organized and well-lit place in which students enjoy learning. Parents are welcome to our comfortable waiting area while children are learning in the classroom. After completing their work for the day, students are encouraged to borrow books from our center's corner library.

We are proud of being a part of the Abbotsford community!

For more than 60 years, Kumon’s after-school academic enrichment program has helped children achieve success worldwide. We strive to instill in children the desire to achieve and the motivation to learn on their own. Whether your child is seeking enrichment, needs help catching up or is just beginning his or her academic career, Kumon is designed to help him or her develop a love of learning.

Students advance through the program at their own pace. Our emphasis on individualized learning helps your child become focused, motivated and self-reliant. We monitor each child’s progress to ensure comprehension before moving on to a new concept. With a strong academic foundation, critical thinking and problem-solving abilities, your child has the potential to achieve whatever he or she desires.

The Kumon Math Program is a comprehensive curriculum that develops the necessary skills to help children progress from counting through calculus. For

COMMITMENT

Kumon is a long term learning program and so we require a minimum 12-month commitment of uninterrupted studying in order to allow our individualized lesson plans to build a strong academic foundation, maximize students' ability, create a positive attitude towards learning, as well as studying beyond their grade levels. A full month's written notice is required to withdraw a student from our Kumon Centre.

Student's Schedule:
• Twice a week students spend approximately 20-40 minutes per subject at the centre.
• Students arriving at the center less than 30 minutes prior to closing may be asked to pick up their work for that day and complete it at home.
• Students are encouraged to complete work every day of the week, including weekends and holidays, in order to make smooth progress and build good work habits.

Parent’s Role:
• Kumon is a family commitment. Please check that your child has completed their homework daily.
• Parents are encouraged to help their child get the most out of the Kumon experience by grading homework and ensuring that corrections are done before the next assignment is attempted. We can provide an ‘Answer Book’ to facilitate the process. Grading is a 2-5-minute exercise, which demonstrates to your child that YOU are committed to Kumon and that it has an immeasurable impact on your child's progress and dedication.
• Parents are NOT encouraged to help their child to complete Kumon homework. If your child cannot complete their work independently, please let one of our staff know. Remember that Kumon’s main focus is independent learning.

Tuition, Registration and fee payment PRE - AUTHORIZED DEBIT (PAD) PAYMENTS
• Tuition is due on the 1st day of every month. The first month's tuition and registration fee is due upon enrollment.

Parent Communication
• Parent - Instructor - Student communication is critical for your child's success in the Kumon Program. We will send home student progress information after every achievement test, along with the achievement test results. Information of this type is sent through your child, so please check their blue Kumon case for communications to you.
• If you would like a progress report or meeting to discuss how your child is progressing, please let us know. Parent meetings are done by appointment outside of regular class hours. Please do not hesitate to call or e-mail if you need guidance related to Kumon or if you would like to share information on what you are observing at home.
• Please keep us informed of any changes to your e-mail address, phone numbers or emergency contact information.
• Planned centre closures are announced via email or center updates on our centre website. Continuous Learning: Kumon is a year-round program and the Centre operates 12 months a year. We encourage our students to attend throughout the year, including the summer, so that students may advance beyond their grade level as soon as possible. Kumon is not a “quick fix” program; therefore, a minimum 12-month personal commitment is required.
