About Your Instructor
Omar Noorani
Meet Omar Noorani, the Instructor of Kumon Mahogany!
Omar came up through Kumon himself, completing the Math program as a student before he ever ran a centre, and in the years since, he's run his own tutoring businesses, working one-on-one with kids to build real skill and confidence. That combination means he's seen the method from every angle: as the student grinding through the worksheet, and as the instructor guiding a room full of them. As an extensively trained and certified professional instructor, Omar serve as a mentor who guides your children through their work while also providing direction, support and encouragement. As a previous student, Omar understands that not every student comes into the centre eager to learn. Omar provides the empathy, patience and caring that he received as a Kumon student in Calgary that allowed him to complete the program. At the Mahogany centre, our goal is to make learning a fun and safe experience for your children, and help guide them on their Kumon journey.
That experience is exactly what shows up in how the centre runs day to day. Every child starts at their just-right starting point, determined through a placement test, and works at their own pace, not the pace of the students next to them. Omar sets the level of challenge so kids are pushed just far enough to grow without feeling overwhelmed or discouraged. Parents stay genuinely in the loop, with real conversations about what's working and what needs adjusting. The goal for every student isn't a better grade this term; it's the kind of independence and confidence in their own ability to work through hard things that follows them well beyond the centre.
