About the Centre

Introduction

Welcome to our Kumon Math and Reading Centre. For more than 60 years, Kumon’s after-school academic enrichment program has helped children achieve success worldwide. We strive to instill in children the desire to achieve and the motivation to learn on their own. Whether your child is seeking enrichment, needs help catching up or is just beginning his or her academic career, Kumon is designed to help him or her develop a love of learning.

Students advance through the program at their own pace. Our emphasis on individualized learning helps your child become focused, motivated and self-reliant. We monitor each child’s progress to ensure comprehension before moving on to a new concept. With a strong academic foundation, critical thinking and problem solving abilities, your child has the potential to achieve whatever he or she desires.

The Kumon Math Program is a comprehensive curriculum that develops the necessary skills to help children progress from counting through calculus. For more information about the Kumon Math Program.

The Kumon Reading Program begins with basic phonics and progresses all the way through advanced reading comprehension. For more information about the Kumon Reading Program.

Policies

Continuous Learning

Kumon is a long-term, continuous study program. The benefits of Kumon are most apparent only when students are working beyond their school level. It is important that our students continue their Kumon studies throughout the year, including the summer, so that they can keep up with a consistent study habit as well as advance to more challenging materials as soon as possible. We strongly suggest a minimum of a one-year commitment in the Kumon program so that parents and students can understand the full benefits of long-term studies.

Centre Closure

The centre calendar is also on the Centre Information page of our website. The dates are subject to change and notice of any unforeseen centre closure will be given at least 2 weeks prior. Students will be provided the homework as needed/requested the week prior to closure.

Vacations

If families go away on vacation, please give us at least one week notice to allow for lesson planning and assignment preparation. Maintaining strong study habits 365 days a year will ensure the proper habits are consistently being reinforced and that students make uninterrupted progress.

Communications

Communication is an important element of your child’s learning journey. We provide positive and constructive feedback during class to our students. We highly encourage parents to do the same at home and celebrate your child’s success. We try our best to reserve our class hours working and observing our students. If you have comments or questions regarding your child’s work, please do not hesitate to contact us via written notes, phone calls, or email outside of class hours.

Home Grading

This is essential for ensuring smooth progress and will allow parents to see what work is assigned and be sure the work is completed properly.

Withdrawal Policy

We require a ONE MONTH NOTICE PRIOR to the 1st day of the month of withdrawal from the Kumon program. Please come and talk to your Kumon Instructors should you wish to withdraw from the Kumon program to obtain a notice of withdrawal form. Failure to give a written notice of absence or termination will result in a full 1-month charge of tuition fee.
