About the Centre

Introduction

Welcome to our Kumon Math and Reading Centre. For more than 60 years, Kumon’s after-school academic enrichment program has helped children achieve success worldwide. We strive to instill in children the desire to achieve and the motivation to learn on their own. Whether your child is seeking enrichment, needs help catching up or is just beginning his or her academic career, Kumon is designed to help him or her develop a love of learning.

Students advance through the program at their own pace. Our emphasis on individualized learning helps your child become focused, motivated and self-reliant. We monitor each child’s progress to ensure comprehension before moving on to a new concept. With a strong academic foundation, critical thinking and problem solving abilities, your child has the potential to achieve whatever he or she desires.

The Kumon Math Program is a comprehensive curriculum that develops the necessary skills to help children progress from counting through calculus. For more information about the Kumon Math Program.

The Kumon Reading Program begins with basic phonics and progresses all the way through advanced reading comprehension. For more information about the Kumon Reading Program.

Any additional closures will be communicated in advance, with worksheets provided to cover these days. For safety reasons, the centre will close during extreme weather conditions.

Class Schedule

Punctuality is essential; please arrive on time for your session. Late arrivals may be required to collect classwork to complete at home. Session durations can be adjusted with prior notice, subject to availability. For early learners, sessions of approximately 20 minutes are recommended, depending on the child's concentration level.

Vacation & Absence

If you anticipate being absent for more than one class, please inform us at least one week in advance so we can prepare the necessary worksheets. Homework should continue during holidays or vacations. If unable to attend class, please contact us to arrange the collection of worksheets during centre hours. Please note, there are no make-up classes.

After-Hours Homework Exchange

During class hours, homework exchanges can be conducted using the mailbox located in the waiting room. For after-hours exchanges, please provide advance notice. A mailbox is situated to the left of the main entrance of the center; homework and completed assignments can be deposited there after hours.

Termination/Interruptions

To terminate or interrupt enrolment, a 30-day written notice is required, effective from the end of the month in which the change will occur. Please send the notice via email. During this 30-day period, the student remains enrolled and continues to have access to the program's resources and services.

Absences exceeding one month will incur a re-registration fee of $80.00, subject to the current monthly rate.
