About the Centre

Welcome to the Kumon Math and Reading Centre of Kanata South. For more than 60 years, the Kumon after-school academic enrichment program has been helping children achieve success worldwide.

The Kanata South Kumon Centre has been serving Kanata and the surrounding neighbourhoods since 1993. The Centre strives to motivate all of its students to perform at their highest potential. We take the time to help students attain the desire to achieve more, develop a love of learning and the motivation to learn on their own.

We are proud to offer bilingual instruction, a spacious classroom, a central Kanata location as well as ample free parking.

We are happy to welcome students of all ages and abilities into our Centre and work with families to achieve their long-term goals. There is no cost and no obligation to the family until they decide to enroll. Book you orientation now!

Centre Assistant Position

• Looking for a mature adult to join our team. The position is part-time, but it is long-term. It requires working at the centre on some weekdays from 3:00 - 7:30 and on Saturdays from 12:00 - 3:00 pm. The centre runs year-round offering supplemental education services to students aged 3 to 17.

   

  The ideal candidate is an older adult looking to stay involved in the community, work with children to help them reach their full potential, be part of a nice dynamic environment and make a bit of extra money.

   

  Applicants must:

  ·      be mature and dedicated to a long-term commitment

  ·      be able to work on site and meet the time requirements of the job

  ·      have well developed organization and problem-solving skills

  ·      be able to handle multiple projects and tasks at once, with the ability to prioritize

  ·      be attentive to detail and very precise with their work

  ·      be dedicated and eager to learn the many procedures and practices of the centre

  ·      be professional at all times

  ·      have experience working with children ages 3 and older

  ·      be open to learning, understanding and adhering to the Kumon method of instruction

  ·      have EXCELLENT spoken and written English skills

  ·      high proficiency in math is an asset

  ·      be patient and enjoy working with children and youth

  ·      be able to prioritize and multitask

  ·      bilingualism would be an asset

   

  Job details:

  ·      marking student's homework and classwork

  ·      working with early learners to complete their daily classwork assignments

  ·      observing students while they complete their work

  ·      working with students on their oral math and reading skills

  ·      adjusting work for students who have missed classes

  ·      learning and using the Kumon Content Management System with precision and accuracy

  ·      preparing student folders with care, pulling the correct worksheets as per student’s individual plan

  ·      greeting clients and walk in inquiries, providing them with general information
