About the Center

Welcome to the Kumon Math and Reading Centre of New Westminster - Sapperton!

For more than 60 years, Kumon’s after-school academic enrichment program has helped children achieve success worldwide. We strive to instill in children the desire to achieve and the motivation to learn on their own. Whether your child is seeking enrichment, needs help catching up or is just beginning his or her academic career, Kumon is designed to help him or her develop a love of learning.

Students advance through the program at their own pace. Our emphasis on individualized learning helps your child become focused, motivated and self-reliant. We monitor each child’s progress to ensure comprehension before moving on to a new concept. With a strong academic foundation, critical thinking and problem solving abilities, your child has the potential to achieve whatever he or she desires.

The Kumon Math Program is a comprehensive curriculum that develops the necessary skills to help children progress from counting through calculus. For more information about the Kumon Math Program, click here.

All students must attend both (Monday & Thursday) weekly classes.

• Job Summary

  We are looking for highly energetic and responsible applicants for the position of part-time assistants who would be working with children in the age group of 3-17. A brand new Kumon center is opening, next to Royal Columbian Hospital (open date of February 4, 2019).

  Job Type / Category

  This is a part-time position, on a permanent basis. Before applying, please ensure you are available on Mondays and Thursdays. There will be a probationary period, before hiring is considered permanent. You will perform in many areas of the center, multi-tasking and inquistive people desired.

  Required Education, Skills and Qualifications

  • Must be reliable, have strong interpersonal skills, and enjoy working with children.
  • Must be proficient in Math and English (an assessment test will be required).
  • Experience working with children or tutoring is a plus.
  • Must be available Mondays 3pm to 7pm and Thursdays 3pm to 7pm.
  • Being an ex-KUMON student is a plus.
  • Must produce Security Background Check upon successful hiring.
