My name is Thirumagal. I am the Instructor at the Kumon Math and Reading Centre of Oshawa – Thornton and Rossland. After graduating from the University of Toronto with an Honours BA, I worked in Communications before going back to school to pursue my teaching certification. After having worked as a classroom teacher at the elementary level, I noticed that some students who also attended Kumon were able to improve their mental math skills. This caused me to recall my own positive experiences as a Kumon student when I realized that setting goals and practicing is the key to academic success. Thus, I made the wonderful decision to become a Kumon Instructor and franchisee.

As a mom of two kids, I understand the need for an afterschool program that has an individualized lesson plan for each child. This is why my vision is to foster self-learning and academic growth amongst school-aged children in my community.
