About the Centre

Introduction

At Kumon of Richmond Hill-Elgin Mills, we are dedicated to fully pursuing the potential of each student. As Kumon Instructors, we provide enough guidance for our students to be able to do the assignments on their own. As a result, our students build self-esteem and develop the ability to take on new challenges for themselves. We at Kumon always have, and always will place the utmost importance on continuing to learn.

Kumon of Richmond Hill- Elgin Mills has proudly served the Richmond Hill community for 27 years!

Policies

It is important to allow children to complete their work independently. Students are required to attend class every week and ready to work. Please ensure that your child comes to class with a pencil, eraser and all the work they were assigned (completed or not).

In Case of Unplanned Absence

Parents may pick up their children’s homework during class hours in case of unplanned absence. Since missed classes cannot be made-up, students will not receive over and above their original daily work assignment.

Code of Behaviour

The Centre is a place of study and, therefore, will have a quiet atmosphere. Students found disrupting the class will be asked to leave. Students are asked to refrain from bringing any cell phones, food, drink, skates, skateboards, pets, radios and friends into the Centre. Parents are responsible for their children’s behaviour.

Safety

Our Kumon Centre does not take any responsibility for students’ safety after they have completed their class assignment and leave the Centre. Parents of young children are requested to stay and wait in the waiting area while their children are in class and meeting them in the waiting area once they have completed their Kumon classwork.

Method of Payment:

Please note that we only accept payments by Pre-Authorized Debits (PAD). Debit/Credit Card, Cash and cheque will only be accepted for the first months’ tuition in addition to the registration and Materials fee. This is for your convenience as well as ours.

All payments are due in advance of each month.

Please expect a debit from: MooMookids. Corp. on the 17th of each preceding month for which it is due (i.e. January 17 for the month of February, etc.). If the 17th falls on a weekend, debits will occur on the Friday before.

Cancellation and Discontinuing Policy

In the unlikely event that you wish to transfer, stop for vacation or cancel, we require WRITTEN NOTICE before the debits are processed. (i.e. you must advise us by the 11th of the preceding month before noon; for January cancellation we must receive notice before December 11th at noon. If the 11th falls on a weekend, notice must be received on the Friday before). In addition, if a student is absent from Kumon (no work was taken, and no tuition paid) for more than 1 calendar month during the year, the student will be considered “Discontinued”. Discontinued students will need to write a new placement test, will be required to pay the Registration Fee again upon re-enrollment in addition to being subject to the tuition fees for New Students.

Partial Attendance

Partial monthly tuition payments are not available other than the first month of enrollment. TUITION IS PAID FOR THE KUMON METHOD – NOT THE NUMBER OF WORKSHEETS ASSIGNED OR CLASSES ATTENDED. YOUR CHILD’S WORKLOAD WILL VARY WITH THE CONTENT AND COMPLEXITY OF THE MATERIAL THEY ARE STUDYING.

For Comments, Questions or Concerns

Your comments or questions are always welcome. Parents are kindly requested to refrain from coming into the class while it is in progress. Please understand that our class time is dedicated to the students. Instead, you are encouraged to send written notes, call us at (905) 237-8615 or, more preferably, send us an email at [email protected]. The front desk will be able to assist with most inquiries.
