About the Centre

Introduction

Welcome to Kumon Danforth!

Our Centre is conveniently located in the heart of the Greek Town (close to Chester Subway).

Our address is 463 Danforth Ave, 2nd Floor, M4K 1P1.

Through the use of the Kumon method, students will become confident, self-motivated lifelong learners and possess the skills necessary to succeed in school and beyond.

Kumon Danforth is available to students of all ages! We are also available to students of all learning abilities. We create individualized lesson plans so that each student is working at his or her just right level and at a comfortable pace. The students are in the driver's seat, controlling their pace so that they can experience advanced levels of study as early as they are capable of experiencing it.

Our friendly, highly-trained staff is dedicated to providing your child with the best academic learning environment possible.

At Kumon Danforth, we believe that EVERY student has the potential to learn far beyond our expectations. Kumon Danforth encourages each individual student to want to learn, to enjoy learning, and to be capable of studying successfully in the future.

Policies

Class Schedule
Students attend classes 1-2 times/week.  Class sessions are approximately 20-30 minutes per subject.

Centre Session
Only students may enter the Kumon student study area.
No cell phones, games, music, food, drinks, or any other type of distractions are permitted in the Kumon student study area.

Home Study Session
Students must complete their work independently and quickly on assigned dates. We recommend that students complete their assignments in a consistent space and at a consistent time, free of distractions. A student's non-writing hand should be placed firmly on his/her worksheets, while his/her writing hand moves at a smooth rhythm. His/her eyes should remain on the page until the very last problem.

Communication
ALL communication is welcome!
We want to hear from you! Feel free to contact us via phone or email. You can also schedule a parent conference to learn more about your child's progress and goals. We will keep you informed of your child’s progress.

Absences
Please give 1 week notice prior to a vacation to ensure that your child's Kumon work is prepared in advance.
According to Kumon North America’s absence policy students absent more than one month during a calendar year must be re-registered and pay the registration fee to resume Kumon study. The current tuition fee will apply.

Home Grading
Home Grading is highly recommended. Students whose homework is graded and corrected on a daily basis progress more smoothly and rapidly through the program.
Answer books are provided and should be kept in a safe place. When your child completes a level, the answer book should be returned. It will be exchanged for a new answer book.
If students require help from you, please make a note on the work. Feel free to write any helpful notes on the first page of your child's homework assignment. This will help us lesson plan and ensure that your child progresses at a comfortable pace.
Consult your home grading guide for specific tips on the home grading procedure. These guides are located in the parent waiting room. We've also uploaded copies to this website's "Forms" section.
ALL assignments must have name, date, starting time and ending time on the 1st page of ALL assignments.
Additional parental involvement is required for Math levels 7A-4A and Reading levels 7A-3A.

Tuition
Tuition is collected every 1st of the month, through Electronic Funds Transfer (via credit/debit card or bank account).   A $10 fee will be charged for non-sufficient funds (NSF) or non-current banking information. If for any reason, you wish to discontinue Kumon, a written notice is required a minimum of 2 weeks before the effective date.  Failure to give such written notice will result in a full charge of class fees and/or forfeiture of the last month’s fee.
For example, in order to discontinue for the month of November, we need notice by the 15th of September.
