About the Centre

Introduction

Welcome to our Kumon Math and Reading Centre. For more than 60 years, Kumon’s after-school academic enrichment program has helped children achieve success worldwide. We strive to instill in children the desire to achieve and the motivation to learn on their own. Whether your child is seeking enrichment, needs help catching up or is just beginning his or her academic career, Kumon is designed to help him or her develop a love of learning.

Students advance through the program at their own pace. Our emphasis on individualized learning helps your child become focused, motivated and self-reliant. We monitor each child’s progress to ensure comprehension before moving on to a new concept. With a strong academic foundation, critical thinking and problem solving abilities, your child has the potential to achieve whatever he or she desires.

The Kumon Math Program is a comprehensive curriculum that develops the necessary skills to help children progress from counting through calculus. For more information about the Kumon Math Program.

The Kumon Reading Program begins with basic phonics and progresses all the way through advanced reading comprehension. For more information about the Kumon Reading Program.

Other closures will be announced in advance and worksheets will be given to all students to cover closure days.

For safety reasons, our centre will be closed during extreme weather conditions.

Class Schedule

Please be on time for your session. If you do not arrive on time, you may be asked to pick up the class work to complete at home. Please note that the allotted time can be changed with advance notice based on availability.

For early learners, it is more realistic to aim for a 20 minute session depending on the child's concentration level.

Vacation & Absence

If you plan to be absent for more than one class, please notify us one week in advance so we can prepare your worksheets accordingly. Homework should be continued even during holidays or vacations with the exception of Christmas & New Year's Day. The workload can be adjusted for those periods.

If you cannot come to class, please call to make arrangements to return and pick up worksheets during centre hours. Please note there are no make-up classes.

After-hours Homework Exchange

Advance notice is required. The mailbox is located to the left of our centre by the entrance of the main building, above the automatic door opener. Homework can be left in the mailbox for after-hours exchanges, completed homework should be placed in there as well.

Termination/Interruptions:

If a student or their parent/guardian wishes to terminate or interrupt enrolment, a 30-day written notice is required from the end of the month in which the termination or interruption will take effect.

The written notice should be sent via email. During the 30-day notice period, the student will remain enrolled and continue to have access to the program's resources and services.

Any absence longer than one month requires re-registration fees of $80.00, subject to the current monthly rate.
